I've had one of those Vectors, they are nice - I've stopped buying bikes (maybe....) but an RL20 would drag me out of retirement I reckon. Had one of those also but never finished it and kinda regret it. This advert's floated my boat for 25 years

and both have not the triangle that was used in the former race frames.
In my opinion everthings right  :4_17_5:

Hey Ron.... yeh ya know.. the small triangle plate they started putting behind the seat post slot like they did with the PL-20's and 600a's.... the earlier ones didn't have that. I have a NOS Prostyler frame without the triangle and my mate bought a frameset back in the day when they first came out... no triangle plate either  :daumenhoch:

I'll post a pic up of mine for ya when I get a minute  :daumenhoch:

Look to be gen1 forks , the serial will denote the frame year - RD/RE etc  ;) .

I had two , sold em both . Funkyfresh has my most recent one and from what I've seen it looks sweeeeet  :daumenhoch: . Snav's is very nice indeed as well .

Will John ( cheekythirtysix ) come out of retirement with his stunning decals ??  ;) .

Here ya go Ron..... piccys as requested. As ya con see I have circled the triangle plate on Neils Frame Pic. The next pics are of my NOS RL20 Frame. The chrome is pretty beat and will need a good ole polish. Was thinkin about a rechrome but have been persuaded not to. Ya can see mine doesn't have the triangle plate behind the seat tube slot. Neils doesn't seem to have the knurling on the dropouts either???

Been lookin for a pair of Gen 1 forks for mine for ages.... as I've decided to make this into a rider eventually  :daumenhoch:

Hope the pics are of interest to ya dude  :daumenhoch:

Get it sold ;)

Ignore those stickers Neil , they were just on the sheets when these stickers were reproduced, as reference perhaps, fook knows, but they don't go on the bike.

Seriously though, if this bike is one of your projects you end up selling let me know, been after one for a while.   :daumenhoch:

The second pic is an RL20II , not a Pro Styler ( note tubes going round headtube ) .

Those decals are normally too big , an SBS set I bought years back were . offer them up to the downtube & seat tube  ;) .

The decals you mention , little round one & Redline Prostyler 1985 are'nt to be used , they just denote which sheet you have .

The little round one could be SBS ? = Seattle Bike Supply , owner/distributor of Redline Bicycles .

I thought this was water under the bridge Neil... your introduction to BW was eventful to say the least   ;D

Most of the guys on there are collectors and I think your approach of '3 day resto's and up For Sale' rubbed alot of us the wrong way.

Its the classic case of the written word being very much misinterpreted, we've met a couple of times at Hartlepool and always said 'hello'...

Hopefully this thread is about another quality restoration and not about Raleigh Burners or BURNERWORLD.

We have our fair share of knobs (of who I am chief  :-*  ;)) but doesn't EVERY forum?

Back to the Redline...

Its coming on nicely and can't wait to see this finished. Its one of my fave's from BITD and like many I drooled over the adverts for these bikes...  :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I can't believe someone on the BW forum giving you gip over buying then selling

One of them ,( who was in the thread ) in particular has been doing just that on here ,,, with a very healthy profit on  a few items  recently  ::)

I was biting my lip when I saw his for sale thread anyway , but now I've seen the remarks he insinuates  :wtf:

Waiting to enter next months BOTM? ;) Just pulling your leg ::) I always love your builds man.
I can't read the BW stuff as I'm not a member but for what it's worth you clearly take great pride in your work and produce builds to a level that no-one could have fault with.
From what I've seen on here the rate you produce is never at the expense of the finished product. You're clearly a Pro and if it's not your profession then it should be. Keep up the good work fella.

In my eyes you're well on your way to Legendary Status  :4_17_5: :daumenhoch:
There should be a sticky with just your builds on.

wow  propa nice words there mate . there is loads and loads of lads on hear that build amazing bikes , i think with me i just have a real pashion for nice things , some people have a that will do theory , my motto is    """" that will do will never do """ or you can put it this way     fookin fanny     :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Lookin fine and dandy that dude.... I'd lose the "Redline Prostyler 1985" decal on the back of the seat tube though... that's just a sticker sheet title on the SBS Redline decal sheets. Bein really picky ya don't need the small oval "genuine Redline" decal you've put on the toptube either.... that was only used on early MXII & MXIII forks and on early Redline V Bars  :daumenhoch:

Neil ,

I gotta ask , after seeing your post above on page 5 .

You talk about the heavy pitting ( with primer , filling pics etc ) . I've not in a long time seen the kind of pits you show on a properly stripped frame ? , was it the shot blasting that contributed perhaps to this or was this pitting in the chrome ( meaning frame was'nt dipped to remove chrome prior to any prep/paint ) ? .

I'm just shocked by what seem like craters in close up , if this was bare metalled  :-\ .

I've had 2 of these , nowhere near as bad .

they looked real bad but by touch i bet they were only 30-50 microns deep but the high build primer highlighted the pitting , yes i blasted it and i think maybe the nickol plating hid some of the pitting

Please don't take this as a criticism in anyway shape or form, you know I love your work and this build is no exception :smitten:
It might just be an optical illusion due to the relationship between the wheels, head-tube plate, stem and where the pedals sit in the pics but does the front wheel look set back just slightly? It could just be me, I have totally crap eyes and glasses like jam-jars, like I said it could just be a visual thing. Is it me or could there be a slight issue with the forks perhaps?

Please, please don't all jump on me for this. I totally come in peace but I know how easily things can get lost in translation.
I absolutely love this build it's just something that struck me when I first saw it.

Don't know if I should I even mention it :-[   :-*

I had a Nos set of those Peregrine Master Mags with coaster, I got them off SteveP, they were the whitest of white, they made white Tuffs look really yellow & they sold for around £120, not bad when you think White alloy Tuffs would go for double that easy.

Unfortunately I sold them on ebay about two years ago & they went to the US  ::)

Shit here goes, head down :'(

:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

thats what i thought if you look close it looks like it has been rammed in to the wall but this is the only way to tell if they are real  "RL" forks    very very hard to come by . i have been on the phone to snav who knows every thing about these redline,s and also brandy truffle , if you look at bmx musem they real  pro-stylers all look this way ................... i nearly got the oxy acetylene bottles out when i 1st got the frame                imagine that  :'( :'( :'(      i think i would have been doing some self harm

                        good spotting tho

Straight forks ( zero or close to rake ) , quicker steering  ;)

yeah matt you know loads about these as well ............. haven,t you had 2 of them

Yeah Neil , had 2 of them . Had most parts ( white ally hub tuffs , Redline Proline V bars , NOS MKS Graphites , 401's etc etc ) to do as well but kinda fell outta love with them ( I guess more to do with the fact I was a racer bitd ) . My first one was a chrome one , 2nd one was painted .

Well that was until Moose ( cheers mate  ;) ) let me buy his GJS Freestyler , that's the only freestyle bike I have .

My last RL20 ( 2nd one ) was this one , after some gentle massage by me ( bare metalling areas with about 6 coats of powder then rattle can & superb powder by Dan ( SBD ) ...........................

The dropouts were real good , still with the machined adjustment lines present ...............
