Hi Folks..
as the above really, nice old chain but it's discoloured, removed paint (red links but it was flaking off)- was just going to clean in a parts washer and hope for the best.
Is there a better way to get it NICE!!! ???
Thank you.

;D love it...
but that's no fun!
-
i leave mine soaking in thinners for few days, everyday keep turning it,and giving it light scrub with a soft brush...
-
wouldnt mind doing this with old D.I.D's or Izumi's :-\

::) ^^^^^^ the chain is an Izumi's, that why I am keen to save it.
no real wear from riding, just through its age.. :daumenhoch:

I just spray them with lemsolve and rub with a clean rag ;)
-
I had one that was nearly solid after years sitting on a manky bike and thought sod it and stuck it in the good ole oven pride bag and after a bit of loosening off it was like new...wouldn't do it on a coloured one though unless you want it 'shiny'!!

i used to do my motorbike chains in petrol overnight , always came out cleaned , degreased and loosened :daumenhoch:

Put it in old plastic bottle with some diesel and let it soak and then shake it and it will loosen out.

spray WD40, wire brush it and clean wit a rag. works for me.

thanks folks... I am going to try them all! ;D
If they do not work I will go with Gashead and Pickle, I just hate throwing anything away. I am that tight I have tried to find a way to recyle my own snot.
