Its a Raleigh Team Burner Frameset handbuilt from Reynolds 501 tubing, built to order by the SPECIALIST BICYCLE DEVELOPMENT UNIT based in Ilkeston.
I only know of 3 from memory that still exist... I'll never own one because the guys who own them would never sell.... and if they did they would command 4 figure sums in the Burner Community.
-
like £99.99 ;D
holy grail bikes change. that ju-6 on vintage looks like a rare thing to own.
-
skyway cruiser as already mentioned and vdc chimp
-
the illusive gold platted hutch....
-
a nos chrome trickstar in a box
-
I guess for me there were 2 or 3 !
When I got back into all of this just over 5 years ago all I would have liked were my old bikes ie Kuwie ET and a Curtis Pro as nothing else really bothered me, well maybe a ripper ?
However within that time my 'Holy Grail' of course, had to be a Curtis Cruiser :Great_Britain: and as you know they don't really come round like buses !
So it remained a fantacy........................................
Well allmost

Sorry if its a dumbass question... :-[
not a silly question at all,
I believe they made 4 - for the Skyway Race team only, so no not a production bike, not sure how many still exist, but I heard only TWO? Only one I've seen was Jeff Haney's one, not sure who has it now? maybe Juan ??
-

Brian Hays had a JU-6 on ebay about 4 months ago, not sure if it sold? I think he wanted about £1500 for it? I think he sold all his collection, including his Nomura, which I bought

Errrrrrrr whats a JU-6 :-\
-
Errrrrrrr whats a JU-6 :-\
made by Race-inc for SE I think - pre-SE Racing PK Ripper, same design but with no gusset - very very rare., circa 1979 ?
JU stands for Jeff Utterback
i'll try and find a pic
SE Racing's history started over 35 years ago in 1970. That’s when teenage entrepreneur, Scot Breithaupt began promoting "Pedal-Cross" races in Long Beach, CA. This was considered the birth of organized BMX racing. Soon afterwards, he created a sanctioning body with a points system, governed rules, and regulations.
After capturing the first ever National BMX Title in 1976, Scot started his own BMX company named “SE Racing.” Seeing as it was his own company, he named it after himself. The “SE” stands for Scot Enterprise. The first signature bike was the JU-6 named for Jeff Utterback, a factory hotshoe, who had been with Scot through several of his earlier sponsors. The STR-1 (now known as the Quadangle) was designed for Stu Thomsen. Next up was the GH Flyer mini designed for a young Greg Hill.
Shortly after the release of his signature frame, Jeff Utterback left SE to ride for his Dad's company GJS. The JU-6 was rechristened the P.K. Ripper named after Perry Kramer. Over the years, the P.K. Ripper became the most sought after BMX bike of all time.

To be fair it might be possible to source one from the US, but I never saw another one over here - it's a US Raleigh (ignore the Fila stickers)
