from the man himself chris moeller has said they are making a limited run of s&m holmes frames exactly the same as they were in 1990 with threaded pitchforks
i had a 1990 holmes in 92 and it was the first proper rider owned frame id ever had and ive been hooked on s&m (ooohh err) ever since

looks like im gonna be selling my jump mtb :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

i wonder if anyone will mention the words "bandwaggon and Jumping on"? >:D
-
i did buy the re vamped 95 sta in the more modern design and im over the f in moon with it.
-
who cares, same happens in fashion and lots of other walks of life so why not in bmx, u got to look to your past to see your future :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

i still thinks its the best feeling bike i have :) :)

Not sure how I feel about this news really. I think a re-issue of the oversize Holmes with clamp on stem and 990 mounts would be good as that bike ruled and would still be very rideable (I'd probably buy one myself and have it just like the one I had in 1996). But bringing out a retro threaded fork version just doesn't seem like the usual S&M way of doing things.
-
i have a nos holmes 1" in my collection and also a nos set of ditch mk2 forks.
i think a re-make would be cool but im with mike when it comes to headset size
the 1.1/8 was a much better bike and i dont think now is the time for a re-issue of the holmes
maybe they should wait another decade like skyway.(just do a better job)
only my opinion. it just seems to soon and looks to be just a money spinner.
that said i would probably buy one. but im not sure i would give it much love.
im pist any who so who gives a fek what i think. ACDC at the o2 rocked bye the way >:D

I got a couple of Emails from Moeller last night:
We are working on the Holmes reproductions right now…frames and forks exactly like they were in 1990 with all the parts coming from the same vendors. We’re doing a 100 f/f’s to start. They are 1” with threaded forks and American BB’s with double drop-outs and everything.
Im not totally sure what I think about this, but I do know that its great that they are real repros, not trying to "improve" things with U brakes and A-headsets. I wonder how much they will cost ...... ???

I wonder if S&M would be doing this if we weren't in the middle of a recession right now? Like most manufacturers (not just bike industry) S&M has likely got spare production capacity at the present and Moeller is probably looking at any means of bringing a few extra dollars into the factory from nostalgic types who just might buy a re-make.
Like Alex I'm a bit confused about the merits of bringing a 1" Holmes back as it's neither one thing or the other - it's not a genuine mk1 even though it looks like it, and it's not really tough enough for daily use by new schoolers, so they'll probably end up as 'ride-to-the-shops' hacks.
I'd be keen to see if the decals are the same though - would be nice to have some genuine S&M-supplied mk1 stickers 8)

Good point Craig. I might 0ffer Moeller a scan of the Mk1 Decals Ive got ;)

You should probably offer those scans to Miko, too. ;)
I'm not really sure how I feel about this either. I do know that the 1990 Holmes is my favorite bike of all time. Loncarevich made them look fast and Clymer made them look cool. I hope I have the funds to buy one if they happen. It's not looking to promising.

S&M didnt have copys of the artwork. I emailed what I had to them over the weekend. The frame sets are being made right now.

There's no waiting list. Its probable that some will be shipped over to 4down for sale in the UK.
Maybe send 4Down an email asking if/will they get any in stock.
