Title: Dialled MX24 Cruiser Now Finished...
Post by: thecrooch on February 14, 2009, 07:41 PM
This has been planned to the extreme over the last 6 months and im pleased to confirm that its pretty much as i wanted it.... Enjoy.   Thanks to SBD for the superb paint job (words cant explain how pleased i am with it) and Mike for going well beyond the call of duty to get me a raw frame.  Oh and a big thanks to UK Customs who seemed to miss everything i bought from yanksville.  I didnt get to Daggers today as intended due to some chain issues (see clearance piccys) which i still need to rectify. But ill be there giving it a blast for the first time tomorrow's regional.

And the bloody rest.  :LolLolLolLol:

That has to be one of the nicest cruiser frames out at the moment.

We should get some T-Shirts made up with "Dialled Till I Die" written on them.  :LolLolLolLol:

Can't wait to see it sparkling in the flesh tomorrow.  Looks sweet!!  That clearance is pretty damn close, which luckily I didn't get with the Profile hubs on James's build.  Did have to move the chainring from front of spider to the back as you have too.  Must be the Saints cranks.  Loving the Halloween King headset.  Humps

Stunning bike and fantastic paint job. :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

Do these UK companies not use Dan to powder their frames?

Seems like common sense to me.

Si, that does look bloody stunning mate.  You and Dan have done me proud.

Regarding the chainline issue, I don't know how the Chris King is set up, but like Alan says, with Profile hubs, the cog/driver has a "thick" lip on one side and a "thin" lip on the other side, so it's usually just a case of flipping the cog/driver over so the thin lip is on the inside (which draws the chain away from the drive side stays).

Also, as you're running Saints, you'll need the chainring on the inside of the spider (which it looks like you've done already) and you might need to lose a spacer on the drive side (can't really tell from the pics, but looks like you have 2 spacers on the drive side when 1 drive side and 2 non-drive side is the norm).

Feel free to call me if you want to discuss set up.

cheers mate i think the spacer is the way to go then.  ill have a look at the sprocket as well but think its the same on both sides.

Can't really tell from this pic how, but it looks like there should be some way to move the cog/driver to the left as there looks to be a lot of room between the cog/driver and the hub body.  I've never had a King hub though, so don't know exactly how they work/set-up.

Front sprocket looks fine Si (it's on the inside of the spider) so the key to moving the chain over will be removing the driveside BB spacer(s) and adjusting the rear cog.

Saw this bike in the flesh today and it looks amazing.

Not because I designed it, but because SBD did a wicked job on the paint and Simon put together a very well thought out, colour co-ordinated and high end spec.

I can't wait to take it for a spin around a track once Si gets rid of that motorbike chain and puts a proper one on it.

The chain has been removed! And the paint was damaged so all good. Not that it really matters as its all shiny now but after a season racing I'm sure it'll be needing the other half of the paint SBD is storing for me.
