For those of you who raced at one of the first tracks in the UK here's what it looks like now. You can just make out the lines of the track but to help see the second pic.
Couldn't get any closer. The track is protected by a large fence and 2 angry looking nags!!
Enjoy :)

what a crying shame :'( :'( :'(

i agree what a shame i had some great races there i think john will agree to
jamie :(

With Coxmoor and the Wheels Euro, one of my all time favourite tracks. Loved the little pro section. Used to race a lad called Neil Fellows from there. Dont get many downhill tracks now. Sigh. :'( :'(
-
I'm looking on the bright side - I heard it was now a housing estate. :( Weren't there doubles in the second straight though, and some tiny doubles in the junior section? I remember going there once for a winter open meet and somebody in practice going off the second berm and landing right on top of the St John's tent when a bloke was in there having a cuppa!
-
They put some doubles on the second straight,a tabletop double on the 4th and a new set of
doubles on the last straight i think this was 86.
Jazz i think the best way in is over the fence by the scout hut, take some carrotts for the horses and get riding ;D ;D
-
Yep, track I drew was how it started (with the exception of the pro-section). They build double whoops on straight 2, a speed jump after the table top and I think a bomb hole on 4.
Great track though, I just need permission and a digger!!!!!!
-
I had many a great time their, i hated the fact that when I was 13 they would not let us ride the pro section, at the end of the day it was only a set of doubles and they were not very big, great track, great memories. Much better when I got to 14's ,
Thanks Jazzchimp

I remember Keith. He was very good. Did he get sponsored? I think he had a Patterson, but I can't be sure. I think Mycycles is still there too. I left Worcester in '89, so my memory is very hazy on it all!!
Cheers,
Adey.

Here you go folks, a pic of Wordsley in it's heyday taken from my dads cine film in around 1983. To think I bet half those kids are here on Rad!!

I bet half them kids were with Chelmsley Eagles, we used to turn up to local meetings on a west midlands double decker bus that one of the dads who was a driver borrowed. As any one who knows Chelmsley Wood will tell you, not a pleasant experience for the locals. Loved Wordsley though. :)
-
I AM SURE THIS WAS CHELMSLEY WOOD !!
THE CONCRETE BERM SHOULD BE A CLUE IF NOT, ANYONE ???

I have some good memories of Wordsley. As Kelloggs said, went there on a double decker bus with Chelmsley Eagles. :daumenhoch:
It was my first time to the BlackCountry, didn't understand a word of the local dialogue. :idiot2:
Anyone remember 'Sid' from Wordsley? A real character.
-
Jon
That is Chelmsley, first corner. Had to lay the concrete as the berm kept crumbling.
Derrick, that was Mark'Sid'Elmer, sure he rode Geths age group. Notice Potters right leg in the photo from Jon, top left! Should remind you of the plastic pig!!!! Classic.

Sid still rides motocross, see him at meetings now and then.
