Not suure on the first date, but you can work out the date of your pedals from the letter thats stamped on them. 

I assume the codes are the sme for DX, SX or any other Shimano part.

I bought a red pair of sx's in the summer of 1983 and I think they were new out so I would say 1983.

I have them featured in the Robinson 24 test in the Nov.83 issue of BMXA

Going off the codes I posted the link to above, my SX on my quadandle are coded HJ and HK.  That makes the left one October 83 and the right one November 83?
