Title: MRD Badlander
Post by: lloydieboy on October 04, 2008, 09:13 AM
Just got hold of a Badlander. Superb f&f set IMO.

Anybody got any info on these? What colours did they originally come in? Did they come in a complete or just F&F?

Cheers,

Lloyd

Yep, chrome or white i think, rode really well & fairly strong, I rode a survivor for a while in the mid/late 90's, and I'm sure "northern jon" rode street on one as well.

Oh yeah, I'll def stick with the White. May get it powdered though, just gotta see the state of the current paint. Just not sure about colour scheme parts wise. I'm thinking blue parts mainly maybe with bits of green? We'll see...

Well,

got the Badlander through today. All good apart from a stuck seatpost. Bugger. So, it's gonna be lots of arsing around with WD40 and the pipe grips...

Tuffs are in good shape. Back has got a hub conversion bolted in so might shove a coaster in it for a laugh.

Well, after five minutes with WD40 and a pipe grip to remove the stuck seatpost i now have myself a superb example of an MRD Badlander. I was so lucky with that post...

The bits i'm keeping...

A nice Peregrine stem. Never seen one of these before. Mid school?

The Frame and Forks.

The Tuffs. In places a bit marked but they're alloy hubbed so i'm very happy with these!

Lookin' good.
Best bike I ever rode alongside a Gen 1 and my '87 Team Master.
Would hold it's own these days it rides so good.
Light, strong and agile.
Be a pity you if you don't give a spin when it's built!

Picked up the Badlander from Dan today, top bloke.

Got back and applied the stickers and it now looks like it just came out the factory. Dan's done a superb job on this and I can't recommend him enough.

Was thinking of recreating the advert, squatting down looking like I need a crap!!!

 ;D

Maybe not...

Just gotta start sourcing parts for it now. Not sure if i want the black tuffs on it anymore, fancy spokes for this now.

Thanks for the data -

Have any other MRD's (Pro, Mini, Expert, Badlander) come out of the woodwork? Animal or Sawzall have you got lucky in the last year or so?

As before, the 20 is size - so 20", OO5 is the Model - Badlander, but the serial is still a pain?

Could it be a Rickman continuous registry?

So based on these serials you can't really work out what year a frame was built then?
