Redline pro line are probably the best off the shelf bike at the mo.

Kuwi's are also very good.

And the new Haro range.

Tall 8 year old will probably need a Junior or Expert size bike.

Redline Proline range around £300, Flight range around £450.

If you want to spend under £250, the DK Dart range are around £225 (I think).  Plenty good enough for the occasional racer.

Just recommendations.  As said, the Haros, SE, Kuwi bikes also pretty good.

Have been pleased with my son's Kuwahara Junior, It's all there, sealed hubs etc and no problems at all after a very full year of racing.
