Title: JMC basket case reborn 4 MK
Post by: animal on August 10, 2008, 09:25 PM
This was a joint build with Cupid Stunt 4 MK this year . This post is 4 those who could not make it and also 2 show the resto that went into this build. the F&F came as a complete bike, with major issues !!! The drop outs were damaged, there were a few dents to the rear triangle tubes. Dents by the top tube where the seatpost tube passes through , there was a reason 4 this tho  ::) There was an ally seatpost snapped off in it that took hours of love 2 remove without damaging anything   >:( Then the worst  the seatpost tube was snapped clean off and missing. Heres the finished article resto pics 2 follow  :daumenhoch:

Even better to rebuild something like that than an easy restore. Best build i ever did was a almost knackered CW.

Lovelly looking bike  :daumenhoch:

Was just looking at those, how did you get the white lettering done?  Were they done from a restored pair of cages or a new set?

Cracking job on the overall restoration, now it makes sense why you both were after JMC seat tube heights  :LolLolLolLol:.  Lovely result; worth the effort  :smitten:

The cages were in pretty good condition, i had them stripped and re-anoed blue at the same time as the wheels ..
The white lettering is easier to do than you would think .. The cages need to be in a fairly good conditon where the lettering is...
The lettering is already stamped into the pedals , i just used a stone chip car paint repair .. the 2 pen kit has an extremely fine nib so you can get the paint into where it is stamped into the pedal and any excess just wipe away with a cloth and it leaves the paint in the stamped lettering .
Takes about 2 mins ..

Thanx everyone for your kind comments  :coolsmiley:
