guess many of you probably think the same as me - in so much as what is possible on a bike now is absolutely madness
from the brakeless flatland - to the flowing trails - big street drops and vert playstation tricks - unbelievable really
so - 10 years ago if you would have suggested triple whips or double whip flairs 8' out a vert ramp were possible I doubt many would have believed you
so what do we see happening in another 10 years???

full circle, simplicity will replace the madness...

Totally agree, style will ALWAYS overcome madness.
A lot of riders like Jamie Bestwick are now doing much simpler, more stylish variations and doing then high, stylish and smooth.
If you see someone do a very basic (by todays standards anyway) one footer, or can can air but high and stylish it still gives you that warm feeling. Mad is good but style rules! The only thing that beats it is when you're fortunate enough to have style and the madness like the chosen few, you know who they are.
Exhibit A: Mr David Frame @ Livi Skatepark around 1985 (I think)
20 odd years on and this is still as rad as it comes, super high and more style that you can shake a big fooking stylish stick at!

yes agree with DJ, these kids learn every trick but the height is being lost and so
is the style, there so desperate for the trick but can't send it big,
get back to learning style, :daumenhoch:

us is whats going to happen next, these kids that are around today will have grown hair in funny places and noticed that there is an opposite to man.
what will be left will be the same people that have been there for the last 25 years, style and flow will be everything again!

the hairy magnet changes everything >:D

I'd love to see a comeback of older variations on vert that no one seems to do anymore...
No foot candy bars...
pendelums...
bar hops...
etc........
I agree that style may replace the more burley tricks..... i hope it does too a bit!!
but there will always be those riders doing front flip flair double whips 10ft out the vert... ::)
-
i'd like some old styles to come back too.
a nice one hander one footer. topside hand down side foot. ron wilkerson style.
when was the last time you saw tricks like candy bars, one handed cancans, cancan x-ups, one hander no footers, rocket airs, nothing airs, indian airs.
-
was gonna post but im to hammered maybe tommorow.......

Hoffman, Masters 2007. He da man.

a rad looking trick is a mix of 2 old tricks by jamie bestwick, bringing a fresh look for 08- the tailwhip to stretched 1 hand, 1 foot air. looks rad. it was on vitalbmx dew tour the other month. and the huge carved downside ally whip. style wins.

I think you're in love with that pic Daz!!
Did you take it?
It's a little later than '85 - you can always date Livi by the colour of the painted walls!
Great pic by the way - it's rare to see Framey in the bowl - he always seemed to rip the halfpipe when I was there.

I think you're in love with that pic Daz!!
Did you take it?
Nah Gaz....no idea who took it.
I do love the pic though. It's a bit like the Zak Shaw picture in Roms pool, you really have to have seen or rode that bowl to truly appreciate how rad that air is. It's the same as the one of him doing the can can on the same day - rad as fook! I've always rated DF, superb style!

Cheers Daz - as much as it's great to see a scan from an old magazine, it's much more exciting and fresh to see someone's personal pics, like those ones you put up of Framey - they were new to me.
I'm just lucky that I've always been into taking pics - and luckily, my mates even took some of me! - and I've been lucky enough to have travelled around a bit BITD and took pics of everything I saw!
I've got a whole load of slides - lots from BFA quarterpipe comps - and once I figure out how to get them on here, I'll share them too. There's some belting vert pics in there....
Talking of style and blinding vert pics - you don't get much better than this - one of my favourite airs (it's a scan though!). Lets see more of THIS at the X-Games!
