I dont know what you are talking about, But if I did ....

The seller must be a bit gutted. Early ones like that done come up very often and there is another up that is only a tiny bit newer! Bad timing or what!

so,

Mk 1 Holmes ..... GOT
Early dirtbike ... GOT
Menstual ....... Need need need need.

I really might bid on this one. If anyone else was going to then PM me cos there is no point us fighting over it and costing ourselves more.  :daumenhoch:

That Menstrual is badass, but I'm not going anywhere near it. No way, no how.

I can imagine the Hell it would be hunting down a 1'' StupidFork, not to mention a 1" clamp on Menstrual stem. Matt Thomas has been looking for that stem for a hundred years and nothing has turned up. I'd love a full Menstrual setup...but I just don't have that kind of patience...

But here's a photo to prove they exist...

I had a 1" Stupid fork with Menstrual stem on a dirtbike for a while. Ive just found a photo of me riding it. When stupid forks were first out the only 1" stem for them was the Menstrual stem. They didnt do a 1" clampon redneck till a while after. I didnt like the bars that high to a ran the Menstrual stem upside down. I really cant remember what I did with the forks and stem. They might turn up one day.

There was a Menstrual stem and forks on ebay a few months ago. I was going to bid but it went too high for me.

I have got a few pairs of stupid forks and Ive also got some 1 1/8 challenger stems. If I ever get a Menstrual frame, maybe I will make a new engraved top cap, and shim the stem Ive got into a fake Menstrual stem!

I did see a Stupidfork with stem on Ebay a while back, but it was a 1'' clamp on Redneck...

Na, this was a full on Menstrual stem. I even stole the photos cos a while before Gogo and I were arguing over if a Menstrual stem was differrent from a challenger stem under neath (I said they were the same and I was wrong). Hey, look at that. Its the same pic you just posted! Where did you get that from?

Oh, and the guy selling the Menstrual frame wants to take a read of my Prince Albert thread on here cos those AINT Prince Albert cranks. Although to be fair, they do often get mistaken for them, I see it all the time. I still dont know what they are tho  :crazy2:

i may have a bid on both the menstrual and the holmes, must have frames from back in the day.

I may even have a menstrual stem battered in the loft......................watch this space guys.

I have the exact same cranks in the shed as the menstrual, i thought they were PA's and alex corrected that for me, i reckon they are fabwelds.

Alex- I don't remember where I saved that stem photo from, I think it was over on Vintage.

I emailed that guy about the PA's. I told him they might be Fabweld's or Woody's. There was a thread about similar cranks at the museum recently, these Boss looking cranks turned out to be Fab/Woody's. I'm not sure about these on the Menstrual though. They look like PA's only NOT pierced at the pedal boss. I don't remember any cranks that were only pierced at the spindle boss.

Maybe I'll start a "Name It" thread at the Museum. They nail mystery stuff down pretty quick....

If anyone's interested, I started a thread to ID those cranks. Might not see much action on a Sunday but keep checking back for updates...

Well, I may have put a bid on one of them. What year is the Holmes?

What year is the Holmes?

Like the add says, 1990. They were still doing the mk1 holmes in 91 but if they seller says it was bought in 90 then it probably was.

Thanks, I just wanted to be sure. It's gone now anyway.

Post by: SaMAlex on January 27, 2008, 07:30 PM
Oh yes, so it has. I wonder if it was bought for the hubs and cranks (not "real" 401s) and if the frame will come back up for sale. Someone should have stuck a first bid on there to get rid of the buy it now price (I think thats how it works?).

fook!  I was ready to spend good money on that!  The bidding was up to $157 and there was no BIN.  fooking ball sack.  I'm so pissed.

Ebay is crap sometimes. stuff just doesnt come up when you seacrh for it!

If the pads went as well I guess someone did by the frame. Looks like my cheap hobby is coming to an end!
Title: Re: There's an Elephant on the dinner table...
Post by: almasterb on January 27, 2008, 07:38 PM
I think it had a 450 bin with no reserve, so the 1st bid took away the bin. I hate when people end early. I really didn't need one, but would like to see what it went for.

when was bmx cheap

No, not when BMX was cheap ... when 90s S&Ms were! Ive got some frame that cos me nothing (after splitting them and selling on the parts I didnt want), and others I picked up for £20 after they ended with no bids, several times!

Post by: perry on January 27, 2008, 07:57 PM
ah i get it

like everything good it goes through a point where its out of favour and will be sold cheap due to other newer things being more popular

i guess s&ms have reached the point where they will fetch decent ££ to people reliving the past

i thought they all got ridden into the ground

i shouldave got a mk2 escort rs2000 a few years ago when they were all £2000 , now they are £5000  :'(  even 4doors are regularly at the 2k area  :idiot2:

Alex, that stem and fork combo?  ''I really cant remember what I did with the forks and stem. They might turn up one day.''

did you by chance sell them to dave c ?  then did he sell them on to a rider in Banbury called garath? just that he had that combo and probably still does, he lives in Bristol now although from last I heard he hasn't riden for years!! I know his brother still lives up this way so could maybe get hold of him?

Ray, is that Garath with the brothers Graham and Dave?
I dont remember Crowman having them but he did work with Graham and Dave in broadrims so it might have been.

Either way, track them down, bud!

Well, so far the dudes at the Museum seem to be thinking that the cranks on the Menstrual might be Counter Measures(Fabweld).

Fabweld sounds right. But only cos Ive heard other people say it. Ive no idea what they are. The only time I have seen them is when people have been trying to say they are PAs (about 5 times).

I made a bid on that Mk1 Holmes, so was p1ssed off it got pulled.

I've got a Mk3 Holmes and a DK General Lee in America, but want an OS race legal Holmes, as the OS races will be the only time I ride old/mid school bikes.
