Pride of Essex Challenge
Braintree/Dagenham BMX Club
Round 1 – Sunday 6th January – Braintree
Round 2 – Sunday 10th February – Dagenham
Registration to close at 11.00 with racing to commence at 12.00

Cost - £3.00 per entry
Free parking
Raffle - £1 per strip
First aid to be provided by club members with current first aid qualification.
All competitors welcome from any club however must ride for either Braintree or Dagenham.
Club trophy on offer following completion of both rounds.
Riders can elect to ride up to any class but must remain in that class for both rounds.
Refreshments to be provided.
The Old school class will form a round of the OSWS07 at each leg. :daumenhoch:

I must admit whever i've rode braintree..hayes...and even the brits i have always been down as a braintree rider :buck2:

Just my views here but.....
Braintree gave birth to the OSS last winter, but Daggers has been home to a load of the OSS, both tracks are very friendly places to visit, and have loads of cool people to help newbies, both tracks are quality, Daggers is very fast and smooth but Braintree reminds me of what was best about the 80s tracks.
Who ever you ride for its going to be fun, and I think anyone who fancies having a go at racing should try and make it, Old or new school your gonna be made to feel welcome.
Lee, Sam, Bill........ You can ride for Braintree if you must, but remember I am hungry for a bit of berm warfare, so Braintree riders will be fair game >:D :2funny:
seriously, the most important thing is making the effort and actually going, you listening Flaz, Jim and the other OS riders who have been in hibernation this winter :daumenhoch:

Directions to Braintree track
From the A120, turn right at the roundabout onto the A131 towards Halstead. At the next roundabout turn left on the B1053 Bocking Road, called Broad Road. Go down Broad Road to the second of two small roundabouts and turn right into Church Lane B1053 to Shalford and signposted to Towerlands Equestrian Centre. After one mile along the road, turn left into Deanery Hill, following the Towerlands Equestrian Centre sign. After the second road on the left, take the next turning left at the corner of Panfield Lane and Deanery Hill to the track.

I just heard from Jim on Facebook and he said that he is going to be coming to represent for Braintree.
Stu, I have got a Robinson frame and forks, bars, stem, cranks etc. If you can rustle up some wheels, tyres, seat and post and a seat post clamp we could throw together a bike for you to race on.
All we need now is Flaz to come out of retirement and Sam to race for his home club and Braintree will have it in the bag :2funny:

Well I finally sorted my ride out have bulit my bike back up today from the box of bits sent to me from the USA (which has been in my hall way for a couple of months or so!!!).
I am very pleased with it, it's a 82 GT Nora Cup. So I will be starting 2008 as I mean to go on i.e. racing again and I will be racing for the Daggers not just for this event but for the rest of the winter and 2008 summer series, they are my local club.
However I will need a couple of quick favours, can someone help me fit the chain on the bike as I dont have the right tools to adjust the chain to the right length etc, once that done,I'll be ready (I think), seeing as Sunday will be the 1st ever ride on the bike, I can see alot of fettling going on. Also I dont have a proper number plate at the moment (minor issue, I think a cardboard knockup will do for time being, correct me if I'm wrong???)
Finally I had a problem with the bulid in that the spindle on the front wheel isn't shaved, so it doesn't fit into the front forks of the GT ( I'm gonna us a front wheel off my quad, for this race), has anyone had to file down the spindle before as the only things I got to do it with are a pair off monkey grips and a hand file to did it. In short I'll probably fook it up, is any one better equiped to do this for me at home or work?

I have a chain tool I will take with me, also I'm sure BAD still have some club No.plates left think they was £7 each with numbers.
Not sure about the problem with the front spindle.

You can gring the axle to fit, or better still try and swap the axles over to suit.
It will be good to have you riding for BAD :daumenhoch:
If you see Caroline she can sell you a BADBMX plate for around a fiver.

only downside for me was being done by one of my own fav moves by gary72 in the A final
a sure fire 2nd was in the bag for me & then....................but im happy with the 3rd
better than my last effort @ daggers were i rode worse than heather mills on a unicylce ;D

Great pics but they don't really give a flavour of just how tricky it was out there today - or is it just me being a wuss?? Like riding through soup. Still, was good to be back on my Redline and running round at the back of the pack making you guys look good!! My legs are aching like crazy now so can't believe a couple of you rode two classes. And to think I was going to bring my crowser too for the extra exercise!! Thos Hungarians were awesome today and it was a shame that Wayne Richardson crashed in practice because he'd have given them a run for their money. Humps

Where the nearest decent bike shop to me (East London), I need some new grips and bar ends and things that hold your back wheel in place, after my rear wheel moved in moto 2.
Or what the shop that the guy owns who was racing in the OS class today (sorry I've forgotten your name if your on this thread, hard to put so many names to faces when your introduced to everyone in about 5 minutes!!!!). Figure if my money gonna be spent on bits and bobs worth spent with supports of the class.
