After seeing this bike (albeit an mtb) it makes me wonder why us mere mortals build bikes :idiot2:

it has THE most attention to detail I have ever seen on a bike, truly amazing :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

:) DINGO :)

its nice, but not than nice :(
a funky white fram with a spash of red even distributed. after its been down the woods it wont look so bling, especially when its been crashed and the lever and pedals are scufffed! :'(
calm down dingo and look at some of your own builds :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
-
i have to say i don't really like it....sorry :-\ those forks look horrible and i wouldn't call it a MTB at all, not even a single speed one. it does have some very bits though like the stem, hubs and touches like the pedals and brake lever but other than that??
sorry........... :-\
-
it's clean, but what is it? a 26" or 24" wheeled jump bike?
it's not a DS bike is as there's no suspension forks.
it's not a trials as there's no front brake.
must be a jump bike, it's got clean lines, it's not bad, but I don't think it's great.
an old school bmx can be made to look better.
-
The workmanship that went into that is awesome.
Would be cooler for it to be a BMX though ;)
-
tiz amazing what you can do with some old scaffold these days...
its nice, but thats about it....
-
im in tow with dingo here im afraid that looks superb clean and very useable to be honest .would love to give on of these a trial run
-
the workmanship looks spot on
what is the bike's purpose?
-
Not my cup of stella.
-
Seen that bike a few times on various mountain bike forums.
It looks trick, but seems like an exercise in form over function.
Your S&M Neal Wood is nicer, Mark.
-
Idonlikeit
Im with mike, Dingos NW is much nicer!
-
I love the fork dropouts though!
-
I don;t like it either, reminds me of one of these:

OK, I just looked through the linked thread. There is way more to that bike that I thought and it is very nice. The best bit was the pics of the dude actually riding it, and getting some air over a hip too! Very cool.
Constrictive point: Why didnt he make the fork drop outs totally enclosed like the frame drop outs are? He is using a "thro bolt" axle so he could have done. My guess is that it wont be long till Odyssey make their director forks (and others too) with enclosed drop outs (holes, not slots) and they can only be used with G-sport or Vandero2 hubs. Id love the piece of mind that my front wheel will NEVER fall out, even if it was totally loose.
-
I can appreciate the detail and all the craftsmanship, but I just can't bring myself to actually like it :-[
-
yep,ive seen nicer too :daumenhoch:
-
no dont like it, sorry mark
-
i like it and the forks look like sunn forks
and he knows how to ride aswell
cool airs over the hip
-
sorry chap but it reminds me of a penny farthing!
-
I think my point was missed here ::)
I am not keen on it aesthetically what I am in awe of is the workmanship that has gone into it, look at the thread at the various pieces the guy designed and put on the bike
front and rear dropouts, headtube/stem/fork interface, stem and fitting system, hidden seatpost clamping mechanism,
to me it shows how much cleaner a bike build could be
:) DINGO :)
p.s thanks for the props on my NW, I reckon thats as clean a build as I could do off the shelf and I want to ride it too :coolsmiley:

Odyssey did it before with their Xtro system that I am running on my Dingo, mega stiff and very noticable on the gate and when cornering

Hmmm
Can you compare it to Sharon Osbourne - she's had a shit load of work done on her and it's amazing quality work at that - and yes, I would ride her given the oppourtunity - but do I fancy her .............................................. not really
:LolLolLolLol:

wheres joe DSD when I need him ???
:) DINGO :)

i've been watching that bike grow from the frame up the dude is a freind of tonic fab ,the guys that built my fall guy frame, there are a lot of similarities in the design,
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/g171/jarvicseven/Greg-Bike-2-734560.jpg)
have you checked out how the seat clamp works?

and incredible bike, the attention to detail is amazing, who wouldnt love to be able to build 75% of their bike themselves?

i'm not keen on the colour etc, just not my cup of tea,i'd have left it raw :daumenhoch:
not keen on the ano finish on the industry9 hubs either,
amazing though, nothing on this forum on many of the others i've been on even comes close really, makes us look like fumbling amateurs :daumenhoch:
modified tonic fab by the same cat,

looks clean as a whistle eh? :LolLolLolLol:
i'll say it again though amigo,
nothing i've seen on here or 99% of the other bike forums i use even comes close to that build.
i think whether folk "like" it or not is largely irrelevent, anyone feel free to show me a better build? :LolLolLolLol:
-
Ah even those oddy forks are only half way there. I wanna see some director forks with just a 10mm hole on each side (maybe slightly slotted to get the wheel in straight). No pinch bolt mech, just a thro bolt!
-
When I get a hip stem I will take that whole front end over to my mate to sort the stem out and tidy up the axle/bolts to make it look sleeker.
Joe I am with you mate, a lot of builds on here have a LOT of work and attention to detail but I dont think any of us have gone that far?
although there was the bike at MK with all the machined stuff on it and that was NIIIICEEE
:) DINGO :)
-
was that joes bike with the machined 48 hubs to take 36 rims
purple one
-
some amazing stuff there,
like the attention to detail on it, the dropouts remind me a bit of GTs pacman dropouts,
no one can deny the craftman ship on that build,
respect.

yeah thats the one! any pics
:) DINGO :)
-
nice machining on joes pics, but even with all that effort the white bike looks gay ;D
hip stems are good though, i've got one, never had any prolems with them slipping like some people have said and i like that polished cover :daumenhoch:
-
The best thing about the whole tread on ridemonkey was seeing that the thing gets ridden and not just put in a glass case!!!!!!!
Scoot :daumenhoch:

very nice workmanship and a couple of nice ideas (hidden rear wheel nuts and seat clamp/stem mod is 1st class).
-
no picts but i spose we could ask joe as he redid the cranks chain ring plus the wierd hub bits on it lol

What is his user name Rhys?
I will ask him, I tried to track him down at MK to talk about his bike, superb it is :coolsmiley:
:) DINGO :)

I think it's Rakas or something :-\
-
joe, one very talented fella
-
the innovation, craftmanship, and attention to detail are outstanding and i have the utmost respect for the guy who's done it all. i love the white with the polished and ano red parts. the hope lever blades and resavoir caps look ace in red.
however. i'd rather see all that on a frame and fork that aren't quite so radical. the thing i like most about it is all the machining that makes all the smooth lines and gives quite a simplistic look but then the frame and fork makes it look a bit 'busy' for me. definately don't like the forks! and the rear stays on the frame look shite. i'd keep all the engineering qualities but just 'sexy' the frame and forks up
