I had never heard of a freecoaster before yesterday. I don't remembe them BITD either so I guess it must be a mid/new school thing.
I'm very interested in getting hold of one for one of my bikes. I can see that Vert-Ego sell them:
"ACS FREECOASTER ADAPTER
NEVER USED MADE BY SUNTOUR FITS
SUNTOUR AND BENDIX COASTER HUBS"
So by the description above, I need to get a rear wheel with a normal coaster and then use this adapter on it.
Do Skyway wheels come with a Suntour hub and would one of these adapters fit it, please?
If there is anyone who has a freecoaster that can help me out, I would be grateful.
Many thanks

i take it you are intending it for an old school wheel.
or are you after just a freecoaster hub in general.
but as you asked the adapter will fit straight onto an
old school coaster hub skyway or similar .
new school nankai,or odyssey or mid try a rollex .

There are not that New, I think the RL freecoaster came out around 86-87.
Iv got a Peregrine 48 Freecoaster Hub at home, they are very much like the Shimano Coaster hubs & the inside parts can be swapped, so you could make a 36 H freecoaster.

Thanks chaps.
I think I might get myself one of those and have a look at it.

i have a steel dna freecoaster hub you can have cheap if you like!
48 spoke
but if you are gonna buy a new one, i can recommend the nankai hub. buy it from the states. last one i bought cost under 70 quid shipped
i have a couple of these. wicked hubs!

I've got some coaster Skyways already so i thought i'd get a freecoaster for those. Saves me even more expense.
Thanks for the link though, i've bookmarked it for later reference. I'm toying with the idea of building up a mid schooler and I may use one on there too, should I decide to build one.
Cheers all

i'm not sure but if you have coaster skyways you can remove the the arm that connects to the frame, turning it into a freecoaster

No this is not the case...

i altered a suntour coaster one time by taking out the shoes, to make it a freecoaster
still had to attach the arm though

must have made the back wheel even heavier then ???

well i bought a suntour coaster hub from custom riders, in 96, thinking yeh a coaster brake would be good.
rode it for about 11 seconds, went over the bars, then took the shoes out of the bastard so it would work as a free coaster.
technically the wheel was a few grams lighter though?

interesting...
i have a NOS pair of Yellow Skyways, steel hub, but with a coaster
the intention is to put them on my torker 280x,
:) but it has no coaster anchor, and i don't really want to scratch the chrome, so i was going to eventually get a freecoaster adaptor,
so would i then still need to use the arm ?

i think you always have to use the arm
as the freecoaster adapter is switchable on the fly between brake and no brake
and for brake you need the arm!!
put some tape around the tube, or a piece of inner tube. that'll protect it from the coaster arm strap
