Right i've been playing with the fron rnd of my DK...basically changed the crap tektro caliper to a DC990 on a plate (forks have no lugs) but not happy with the 'tidyness' of the whole thing.
So i picked up some new Blank forks with AD lugs(very cheap as they were black and a tad scratched....£10) so did my own spray job so they are nice and bright white now!! :daumenhoch:

My only query is the whole Giro thing???
I've never set one up or taken one apart?? i know how to fit new forks with a 1 1/8th headtube as i've done it loads of times on my MTB.......but this Giro looks to be a right git!!
Will it all fook up when i undo the bits?? is there a correct way to undo it all so it doesn't go "PING!" and end up everywhere??

its all simple mate :daumenhoch: no pingy bits :LolLolLolLol:
-
This is me you're talking about mate! i'll put it all back together and end up with a tray full of bits left over!! :2funny:
-
its easy pickle, just loosen all the adjusters so they are screwed right in on the frame, gyro, and brake lever.
slip the round nipples (that are on the end of your top gyro cable) out of the plate.
you should be able to remove the stem/gyro plates in the normal way.
-
cheers mate........when you say loosen ALL the udjusters do you mean just the ones on the top of the Gyro? not the ones underneath on the frame bosses? that way they will hold the plate down??
-
loosen them all....so your cable is loose enough for you to slip the top nipples out of the gyro. leave the gyro in place, connected to your lower cable while you fit the new forks. pop the upper cables back in, and adjust it back up.

Splendid Mr Fruit....Many Thanks :daumenhoch:

flip your stem while you have it all apart ;)

I'm 6' 2" mate i need all the hight i can get! i grant you it is one ugly looking stem mind! :-\ can't believe how much new BMX stems are though!! you can get a good Race Face one for my MTB for about £25 tops! you're looking at about £40 for a good BMX one!!
(Tight arse) :LolLolLolLol:
-
that stem looks ok!
you should be able to scoop a good one for less than 40 bangers though, on the bay
i think i paid 30 quid for my oddysey elementary stem. you need 2 pairs of hands to set it up though!
there are so many stems out there though, it's knowing what to get
i have cracked a couple over the years. so there are some shit ones.
when you plop your forks out make a note of where all the spacers n shims go in relation to the gyro too!
-
oh and grease the ad lugs before fitting the new brake
-
Cheers Fella......I'll make a note to do all of those :daumenhoch:
