Title: bmx urban myths
Post by: OrgasmDonor on March 19, 2007, 11:26 AM
there used to be loads, like putting buckled skyways in the freezer to straighten them etc

and i also remember hearing about the team murry guys way back in the early 80s having titanium frames n forks at a price of $2000

what others can any one remember or lay to rest

wbw , had a few bmx pals who really didnt know their ame,s from their oakleys

one was convinced,
fiola was really a 7ft tall robot

because the aero pro had aero tubes
one thought,
skyway was owned by raliegh
as was jmc (bladed fork)

another frankie f@ckwit,was willing in public to say,
"torkers twin toptube was inspired by the raliegh chopper"

this was my fav wind up at rom track,
if you have looseball bearings in your hubs,h/set,b/b
if you remove 1 ball from either end of hub,h/set,b/b
you make your bike lighter

this is 1 of me all time fav rOm tales,
craig campbells parents didnt buy rOm
contrary to action bike report :coolsmiley:

In the U.S.

Skyway Tuff's we're said to be unbreakable.(I knew a few peeps who broke one of thiers within a week).
The CW Phase 1 was actually a good race bike.(until you tried it & it broke at the z).
Helium in the tires makes you lighter.(Lighter in the head if you sucked it out).
Gluing your grips onto your bars to avoid slippage.(Using a wire wound tightly at each end did the trick & you were actually able to take them off if worn badly).
Using a 20x2.125 up front gave better traction than matching 20x175's.(Depended on the tire & tire pressure).
Racing a quad was a death sentence, cuz when it broke you got impaled.(I heard that one many times but only found one case of it actually happening,it impaled his thigh not his chest).
Freestylers don't make good race bikes.(Tell that to the kid who raced a RL 20 II at my track BITD & won 15 out of his first 17 races).
