the number is at the top of the thread...am trying to suss what bike it actually is!
seller is vague thinking it may be lazerlite.survivor, nova or supernova...
was hoping that the number would do it?

Ask the seller if it has a Looptail rear end if it does you know it's not a Laserlite.

HELP!
"Here we have a Old School BMX KUWAHARA Frame with a few extras. I got the complete bike from a yard sale and took what I needed for another project. The serial number on this frame is RK4115339. This may be an early 1984 laser lite, survivor or nova. I think it may be the latter due to the parts that came with the bike. I cleaned up the remaining parts that I do not need. Here is what is included with this auction:
Chrome Kuwahara Frame
Chrome Tange Headset
Black Sungino Stem
Black Dia Compe 890 brakes dated 5/83
Black Dia compe Tech 3 lever
Chrome Tioga Beartrap Bottom Bracket
Takagi 180mm crank
Chrome Takagi spider
Silver Pro Neck 42 tooth sprocket
Chrome Izumi chain
Black KKT pedals
This bike had a different round Tange forks than I have seen on a Kuwahara. I researched a little and found that the US bikes differed from the UK and other countries. This frame also has the oval top tube and the rounded downtube. The brake bridge is not a plate. It is just like the old KZ Kuwahara. The frame is in good shape and would be a great resto project. I have too many and can't have anymore. The only 2 blemishes on this are as follows. It must of had a kickstand on it due to some crimping of the drop outs. At some point in time the owner scratched his name on the underside of the down tube. This is a great base for a great project. I am sure someone could use this.

I remember that ebay description, if I recall correctly then the forks are the tange/tioga ARX, but as for the rest of the bike I couldn't tell what it was.
Post some pics up when it arrives or the link to the auction.

I once saw a prototype of this frame, it never went to market but was manufactured (on licence) in Atherton near wigan, as far as I remember it was made from "watter" ( a type of alloy used in the production of " Iron Brew" )
Sorry I can't be more helpful

ta bruv..
anyway..no forks supplied so there is a set of period in keepinng tange ready to go on..
still need to id the frame.arghhhh!

Get some pics posted then we might get to know what it is :daumenhoch:

whereabouts on the frame is the serial number (which incidently doesn't follow the regular Kuwahara/Tange pattern)? :-\

Interestingly this advert was just after a test of a Falcon Omega Pro which from the description may also be the same frame (The tioga frame was imported by Elswick-Falcon cycles who sound like they assembled them in this country from parts they imported and then just slapped there stickers on them but this is just a wild guess). The advert for the Tioga frame also states that The Falcon team used that Tioga frame.

spot on!
even if it's a sketch, it look exactly like the frame I have.
cheers plinky.
now - anyone want an NOS Rhino Charge? ;)
-
not mine then..this ones got a plate for the rear brake...
mines a tube.
hmmm......
-
I have this frame, measured teh top tube diameter and it is a clear 15mm difference in diameter from the tube nearest the seat to the tube nearest the stem - i.e. it gets bigger towards the front on both the top tube and the downtube.
it has the flared seat tube but it has a tube for the brake bridge instead of a flat piece of metal - on the brake bridge there seems to be welded a washer so it acts as a flat piece of metal, this is in chrome and doesn't look to have been added afterwards.

li,ke this one :daumenhoch:

has that a tubular brake bridge or a flat one?
-
Same as yours rounded with the washer thingy, these were not added as you mention, but standard did you have any decals on yours when you got it?
-
It has one decal on the head tube one on the seat tube
thus:
that says Hi Tensile Steel
and the other on the seat tube says Cr-Mo - it's pretty light so can't work out which decal is wrong - you can't have hi tensile steel and cr-mo frame
-
Decals are wrong,I guess added later? should have tioga decals on the forks ( same style that is still available on the ones you get at rudewheels) and Rhino charge on the downtube although mine had tange tioga decals on the downtube also? they are nice frames, strong, light and quality chroming on all the ones I've seen :daumenhoch:

I could do with the decals for the tubing - was going to get the forks from rudewheels too - plans for yours?
