I was looking at Matskybeat's awesome VDC Changa :4_17_5: pics from the Epic meet, and was trying to work out how much that stands him in ? I know the Frame, Forks and Bars set him back over a £1000 !! And judging by the amazing spec as far as the components are concerned it must be 'THE' or very nearly the most expensive bike owned by a RAD member, unless Radman or Mr Quad can beg to differ ?? :-\
So, who's got the most valuable bike on RAD, anyone actually have an idea?? ::)
-
Good question ???????????????????
-
This is gonna be hard me thinks , There are bikes with - like you say - £1000+ frame/forks and bars but there are also bikes that are worth more just because they are rare ie - a burner with £1000 worth of parts aint gonna be worth as much as a pk ripper with the same , do you get what i mean. Bikes are only worth what people will pay and the varies a hell of a lot ;)

Value is one thing, but cost to build is another.
My Redline ONLY cost me about £750 to build (now with complete original pad set), but to me it's priceless! :smitten:
I feel a pic or two coming...

Spot on :daumenhoch:

The Gold plated Hutch springs to mind. That must be worth a shed load.

I think if you look at re-sale value then Coxy's Chrome Pro Star is worth more :daumenhoch:
-
i have been lucky really dont think any of mine have cost over £600 but not one has a flight on (but i would love a white flight please) i am finding now the f&f is the cheapest bit of the build
-
would be rude to say how much i have spent on one specific build
but pete,s right with the f/f being one of the cheaper parts to a build
and this f@cking amazes me ;D
anyhoo matt your trickstar must have clocked up some coinage :coolsmiley:
-
Hmmm Steve, yeah, the Candy Red Trickstar stands me in around £800 !!
The F&F cost me £251 inc Powder coating ! So not too bad.... :-\
this is one bike i'd never part with, :smitten:
-
Hard , as its about value now , not what stuff cost when you bought it ?
cos my TA is worth a fair bit in parts , but the parts actually cost me a lot less than they would now
i paid 30 quid for some NOS hutch beartraps , so maybe mine is the cheapest LOL

Good one Rich, my T/A that came 2nd in the freestyle section at Epic cost less than £200 to build, and it has flights, NOS dx pedals ect, and my Blue sport has NOS 401`s nos DX pedals ect and still cost less than £300, ah those were the days :) if I were to build those bikes now it would cost over £1000 each, and then there are my other bikes that I have stashed......
-
fook me who let the hippy in ;D
Easy kirk , hows you fella ?
long time no post
you still rockin /

That's because you're buying cheap frame and fork sets - espescially Pete with those cheap and nasty GT's. Go and invest in some proper old school exotica ;) :LolLolLolLol:

Moose that cracked me up..... :LolLolLolLol:
Seriously though, I remember being told years ago that an early 84 performer fully built with redline cranks, tuffs etc would be worth over a grand then - what sort of price is an 84 performer f&f now?
The most exspensive bikes, loads - I know of a Haro Freestyler that has had nearly £2k put into it. There is Subs collection (just price some of the bars and hubs) plus a f&f and whatever else is needed that is some serious cash, and last and not least Mr JMC's collection - some high end and rare builds their too, which would fetch (and would have cost) a mint.
Another thing which has not seemed to happen yet, but if provinence was found for a bike - such as a Haro Sport Gen 1, an MRD that belonged to a certain factory ridder.........then the money would flow.
;)

-
Believe it or not, but my goose would cost a bit to reproduce! (thats funny that is)
First gen flights?? if you can find them
Bottemas??? again "if"
GT Santa Ana Pro Bars (unknurled ones)
Theres about $1500 aussie dollars there alone.
Then add the graphites I had on it. (first gen model) Last set went for $1700 US (well over $2000 aussie$)
Scary shite. But I'd just piss it up against the wall if I had the money. I love my bike. :smitten:

-
heres my opinion to justify gentlemans relishin top money on kids bikes.... how much does a middle of the range decent brand mountain bike cost... about a grand i'd say. tell that to the wives and explain that if your were riding a grands worth of mountain bike, she'd be constantly patching up your injurys. how much is a grands worth of mountain bike worth in 20 years? £100, how much is a grands worth of osbmx worth in 20 years? £4000??
hopefully after my rant you can all sleep easier, even if you have got some black mx1000's stuffed under your pillow ;D ;D
