Title: Ammaco Freestyler details?
Post by: mightynimrod on October 29, 2006, 12:05 AM
Hi ya fellas, has anyone got any details of the old 83/84 Ammaco Freestyler range?

I *think* that there were 3 versions of it:

Freestyler Pro

Freestyler King

Freestyler Ace

Anyone got any specs or pics of any of them and the decals please?

Cheers

Steve

Check out my vintage pixs of my Ammaco Freestyle Ace in the 'welcome' section of the forum!  :daumenhoch:

Theres a picture of a Freestyle King on Biagio's website, he had an NOS one for sale a while back  :D

Ive seen the ones on Biaggio's - look great :D

Draggd my old Ammaco Freestyle Ace out of the shed today, the bars and grips were ad ons in the 80's and the seat post and tyres were added in the 90's.

Re: the original Ammaco freestyler range - there is a review in BMX Freestyle Vol 1, Number 1. I have to be honest I haven't been dragging this fact around with me for 24 years, it's just that I picked up a copy the other day and the top of the range bike with spec, photos etc. is reviewed.

I can photocopy the review for any that wants it and send it(no scanner so no electronic copies I'm afraid  :()

Here's what I did with mine... kinda of a miss match of parts but I liked it..an old school hybrid :)

This one seems to be unusual having a solid gusset... never seen another like it ?

... And probably the nicest bike I've had to ride... long top tube... an inch makes a big difference ;)

:) I believe the later models had the solid/fully enclosed gusset.Probably a better idea as the early open gusset ones used to rust really quickly.

I thought perhaps it was an earlier one rather than later but that was what I was led to believe.

Either way I don't have it anymore lol...

cheers

The early gussets were buggers for cracking too... Probaby why they moved onto solid gussets.
