I have been working on my replica for many years, and yesterday after five years of searching one of
my parts to complete the puzzle arrived from the US, a nos comp stadium tyre and it cost a bloody
fortune!!! (had to put new tyres on my car on hold for a month). After may hours of scrubbing the
tyre came up as new. Still need to source a couple more parts - 1) A NOS REAR COASTER SKYWAY 2)A
REDLINE/SUGINO 400 SERIES CRANK, both rare top dollar parts. Anyway, here is my December entry.

Just finished this one, it was originally built by BMX Products Mongoose. Its a Racers Super X 1978 Nickel
I had been hunting one of these frames for some time, found one in Australia (I am in Manchester UK). After staying in touch with owner who had found the frame in a dump (old store clearance), he finally agreed to sell the frame on. It had been sprayed bombed, originally red and when i received it, matt black over the red. I was intending to paint it factory red but after stripping it realised it was nickel. The nickel had been protected perfectly under the paint. Many many hours of stripping and polishing. The look i was going for was a clean rider. Whilst waiting for the frame to arrive from Aus, I started purchase all parts from the US. Everything had to come from US as none was available in the UK, the seat clamp was the only thing that the UK. Its such a simple bike from the 70's that the parts list is fairly short. Its a pretty rare frame in the UK and i am glad to have been able to get some of this mongoose history back into the Uk.
