Title: Powder coat v Starchems
Post by: kalex on September 17, 2018, 05:26 PM: I'm fairly sure starchems can and has been used to good effect on removing powder coating but before I slap it all over I would like some confirmation please

I use Bartoline TX10 just as good an cheaper

Post by: Cherrypicker on September 18, 2018, 09:46 AM: I’ve used nitromors on the RL20 I’m doing with only partial success after several treatments. Found some organic environmentally safe stuff which took a little more off. Then I went for TX10 which has removed most but not all the paint, again after several treatments. Anybody used the Aircraft Remover? Watched demos of it online, appears to just rip it off in minutes?? Struggling to get paint from the welds.

Starchem is the brand Carl... Synstrip is the product. :daumenhoch:

Post by: kalex on September 18, 2018, 01:31 PM: I only use starchems and would never bother with nitromors, but I've only used it on paint and have heard it can be done with powder.

I've got forks and bars which have been powdered albeit at a average standard but before I go and slap starchems all over it I wanted to know if it'll do the job. Its only on a everyday rider and I can put up with the powder job but as I've got starchems sitting around I thought I'd have a go.

Should do mate I've used it on powder loads.

Put it on & then place the frame in a bin bag or one of those bags you get with oven pride . it'll help keep the synstrip wet so it works better for longer .

You don't want it to dry out otherwise you'll have to apply more ... :daumenhoch: Also do it in a ventilated room as you dont want to be breathing too much of that stuff in ...
