Title: Peroxide needed to bleach wheels......?
Post by: bigfatolly on December 18, 2016, 06:30 PM
Just picked up a set of white OGKs that have gone back to yellow and want to get them bright white.
I have bleached aero Zytecs and Tuffs before using the cheap tesco bleach but saw something on here about peroxide being better.
I know I have to do the job in the summer as apparently it needs sunlight.
So what I need to know is.....
What is the product I need for the job and how do I do it?
From what I remember it's kind of like a paste so I presume I just brush it on?
And how long do I leave it on for?
Cheers in advance....

This is what I use on yellow plastics..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Loreal-Professionnel-Oxydant-Hair-Cream-Peroxide-Developer-6-9-12-1Ltr-/222311834369?var=521153981136&hash=item33c2d16301:m:mQvtnHdgz1j3pAOIiZnPa6Q

I use the 20vol type as higher the vol number the stronger it is .
Its nasty stuff so wear gloves  (get the free gloves when you fill up with fuel).
You need a UV light or the sun to activate the product.
Just a plastic container poor it in paint brush it on.
I would wrap the wheels in cling film if you are planning on leaving outside as the weather can remove the stuff.
I have left them outside for weeks with cling film with great results but done this summer time but never winter time so could not advice if same results..
Give them a light "wet" and dry with 800 grade before applying.

2 ways you can do it Olly, either use the hairdressers stuff like Moza did in his thread , or use the food grade liquid stuff like Rich (chubby) did with detriment to the local seagull population!!! Either way you are best off leaving it til summer when there is sunlight to activate the stuff.... I have a pair of white grips I am patiently waiting til next summer to do!  :daumenhoch:

Would it look odd if you took them to the local tanning parlour?  :LolLolLolLol:
