Title: Van loading advice....
Post by: ammacopij72 on August 19, 2015, 08:10 AM
First year we've needed a van so have hired a transit for the weekend. Any roadsters have advice on how best to pack the bikes in the back of a van to avoid any damage?

 :tickedoff: Cheers fellas,

Neil

Go and get yourself as many big boxes as you can and flatten then, you can then put them inbetween each bike.  Get yourself some good string or those elastic straps so you can tie them against the sides to stop as much movement as poss  :daumenhoch:

Exactly what Rob says .... We did that last year and will be doing it this year.
Maybe take off your pedals but the more full and rammed your van is the better as it means there is less movement/chance of bikes crashing around corners and at traffic lights!  :daumenhoch:

based on what I've seen Carl doing with his

remove pedals
turn bars 90 degrees
put cardboard between them
repeat as necessary, adding layers on top if necessary

say something like 'next year I'm only bringing the quad'

Go to Halfords and ask for the boxes the bikes come in. They're happy to get rid of them for nothing. You'll need to take the front wheel and the pedals off but they go in the box as well.

3 in boxes and one loose  :daumenhoch:

Carl's ethos with unpacking the van is very ingenious also;

Simply get fooko'd on Friday night, then allow friends to assemble early on Saturday morning around the display area, and get them to unload and place on stands. Brilliant.

Then repeat on Sunday.
