One of my all time grail bikes was the King Liberty, they were super hard to find in Australia back in the day as I don't think there was an Australian importer at the time. I would see riders like Jerry Galley, Stuart King and Joe Rich riding them, soot made me want one even more.
Olly was good enough to hook me up with this one last year which needed a bit of love. It came with frame, forks, decals, stem, chainwheel, pegs and axles.
This is how it arrived.

I had it powdercoated in a colour called Woodland Grey and then fitted the decals.

Probably a it hard to tell from this pic, but the forks use a regular 1" headset however the forks have an extended steerer tube which allows for a 1" threadless stem to clamp on the top.

Slam Bars, Odyssey grips, Tech 77 lever, DK seat clamp and playing around with a generic post and Odyssey Z77 seat.

How many people did this mod back in the day? A hose clamp used to prolong the lifespan bottom headset cups.

These wheel are only a temporary measure. I have a set of Peregrine Super Pro hubs, but I don't haves set of rims.
I built these Primo son of a bomb hubs up to Hoffman Generator rims and wrapped them in Primo V-Monster tyres. They'll do the job for now.

I wasn't feeling the Z77 seat and generic shitty post, so I went with a Primo seat and post combo.

Fitted a Dia Compe AD990 and ran the brake cable. I still might change the red brake pads? But they are growing on me strangly enough.
I've also got a pair of Peregrine pedals on there, but they get swapped out for a black pair.

Chain fitted, locked down the back wheel and dialed in the brakes. I only have 2 King Pegs, so I decided to run these Hoffman ones until I can find another 2 Kings.

fooking cracking build as usual Gordy :coolsmiley:
nice touch with the jubilee clip :daumenhoch:
-
Primo seat and post look way more at home than the Oddy.
Like it :daumenhoch:
-
Great build Gordon. :daumenhoch: Kings are so under rated, but were ridden by so many kick ass riders.
-
That's so cool! I remember buying one of the very fist sets of King forks after being fed up with forks breaking... then within 3 weeks... I'd bent them at the crown. Should have used a jubilee clip!!!
-
That's a belter! love it :daumenhoch:
-
They look like my old Forks that i sold to Dan Harris at MK a few years back..
that stem is the wrong stem for the forks as the forks are the early ones & its a later stem.
the guy i bought them off kept the early type stem as it was a fair bit chunkier ;)
the chrome still looks good, it was a massively thick plating job, i reckon you would have had to grind out the lower race to get it on there :daumenhoch:
-
Love the colour im getting my T4 sprayed similar colour cool :daumenhoch:
