....but i'm gonna try ::)
So, some old KHE effort, that i came across quite a while back, and has been sitting in my garden for the best part of a year.
Before i got it, it had been sat in the original owners mums garage since about '98ish. One owner, never been apart from new.
And to be fair, wasn't exactly blessed with the best parts.
But being a tight arse, i'm gonna re-use what i can :daumenhoch:
Pics.....

So, as you can see, pretty fookin rusty.
-
Stripping it down was easy, nothing stuck except the seatpost.
A squirt of WD40 in and around the post, and a jerry-rigged vice, consisting of a metal pole thats been there for 30 years if not more, and a stem placed in it, soon got it free :)

And then into a citric acid bath it goes...

One thing i learnt though......cd chainwheels, in a CA bath....strips the 'grooves' right off of it...had a load of ginger pubes floating in the bath, and a wanked chainwheel....
-
what did you use in the bath ?

This stuff, used 3/4 of the tub in the bath. don't know how many litres of water, but enough to cover the frame by a cm :daumenhoch:
Most of the frame was clean by 48hrs.....but left it in another 12 hrs to get into the bad rust under the top tube/seat tube area :daumenhoch:
-
what are you going to do to stop rust re appearing ? clear coat ?
-
Just out of the bath.....still a little cloudy, but fook me what a difference

Once polished, i'll probably give it a good wax, ordinary car wax should do.
This bath malarky isn't magic as some would think, the rust is always there and gonna come back.....
You just have to try and stop it as best as you can :daumenhoch:
-
Looks great does that, been using ca a bit myself lately & it's fookin brilliant stuff :daumenhoch:
-
Looked better rusty :-X
-
It is Chubbs, and cheers Mat :knuppel2: ;D
Had a spare hour today, a little Peek and a cloth, coming up alright :daumenhoch:
Gonna take forever at this rate though ::)

To be fair, i started on the best looking bit, some other parts of the frame may not come up so good.

probably needs a go on a polishing wheel to make it perfect, but it'll do for me.

Think, you'll did a fine job.
Much better, like/prefer Chrome over THE painted/powdered F&F's!

Excellent work.
