just got this NOS gold pro neck stem. its in such good condition it got me thinking, could it be
a modern FAKE? :'( I've seen a thread on museum about how to spot one and following the information it
does look the real deal, but it just looks TOO GOOD!!
opinions please :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

A guy in the states re did some a couple of years back in all the variations they did :daumenhoch:
Inverted, Round and Square edge ones :police:
-
The original Pro Neck lettering was stamped into the cap, this look laser etched.
The stem bolt only had the 3 lines on the top too, not the triangle, if I remember correctly bro :-\

yeah from what i can gather, the fakes that were made had more metal from the bolt hole to the edge of the stem
the ones on the left are fake the ones on the right are the real deal you can see the difference :)

Looks repop / fake or whatever you want to call it. The triangle on the stem bolt and the markings on the cap bolts indicated the metal they're manufactured from - i'm sure that wasn't ever present BITD :-\
-
Kerning looks wrong too buddy

It's a fake, the small triangle on the bolt head gives it away

does anyone know him??
-
I've owned one, they are well made and I bet it's stronger than the original as they had problems with the grade of alloy, the pro neck 2 was better grade alloy.

Scary Mary must have up sticks recently as this Pro Neck in their completed listings from a couple of days ago says item located in Toon-side .....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/tuf-neck-old-school-bmx-stem-nos-/171464343293?pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27ec123efd
Although back in August , these hubs were in Basildon .......

-
interesting, the blue one in the completed listing thats still in the original packaging has the same bolt as mine???
-
I can't see anything 'in' any packaging , but there are a couple of items 'on' some packaging .
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/scary-hairy-mary/m.html?item=171474331924&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&LH_Complete=1&rt=nc#item27e8f768b2
I wouldn't know the difference tbh , but I'm assuming if a stem can be repro'd that the packaging shouldn't be too hard to copy ??
-
Hairy mary is making a killing on there the son lites :-\ are they real i wonder, stems look quality though but you would like a real one for them prices, report him to ebay :daumenhoch:
-
i have emailed him and explained the stem isn't genuine but haven't had a reply yet :(
-
He will probably shut up shop and open up again in another name :daumenhoch: i hate guys like that why not be honest about the thing or say that am not %100 sure and sell them on at a fair price instead of guys like yourself been ripped off :-\
-
Good luck, I hope they're honest about it.
I don't think eBay will give a sh1t as long as they're making money. Absolute80s or whatever his name is sells refinished stuff as NOS all the time and eBay couldn't care less.
-
Well i suppose your rite there jaan but i bet if any of us guys tried it we be banned
-

Give him 24hrs to reply to be reasonable then open a case, IIRC there's an option for counterfeit goods, just had look and it's covered by EBAY money back guarantee :daumenhoch:

I also fell for it ! I paid £140 for mine and the guy had a disclaimer on it saying it was fake but silly me didn't read it , they are made in the USA somewhere.
It is well made for sure but it's not a Helix stem , Helix are stamped underneath.
Helix haven't made stems for a long time and not making anymore , just dropout savers and some seat post clamps they have left, I spoke to the guy at Helix a few months ago,
These stems need to be sold as repop and not originals, buy it now £100 free post I think is their true value , they still use high quality components and good engineering skills
-
i didn't by it through ebay but i did pay through paypal so i still should be covered, the guy is on bmx museum. i still haven't had a reply. i may open a case against him later today if i haven had a response :tickedoff:
-
seller is claiming its real!!! :tickedoff: :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
Only if tuf neck are re-issuing them
-
I've just read through 13 pages on museum about fake v real pro neck stems, I'm now an expert on Chinese and Canadian bolts!! :2funny: it is clearly fake and even worse from what I've found BIaggio is also selling them as genuine on american ebay for $400!!!!! :2gunsfiring_v1: :2gunsfiring_v1: :2gunsfiring_v1:
-
Can I ask how much they cost when they were relieased? (the re-pops I mean)
-
Can I ask how much they cost when they were relieased? (the re-pops I mean)
they were never officially rerpo'd, they were faked by a member of bmx museum up i canada and leaked onto the
market as real!!! when they first appeared they were selling on ebay.com for $900-$1000!!!!
i looks like a few big hitters in the OS scene got burnt buying them :(
FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
