Now i havent used a coaster brake since the 80's and i cannot remember if you could stop pedalling
I know you had to pedal back to brake but could you just freewheel with em ???
-
Pedal forward up the ramp, push the cranks back slightly to dis-engage drive and you 'coast' backwards without having to pedal backwards :daumenhoch:

Yes you can freewheel with them :daumenhoch:

Never had enough control for my liking

They are really weird,I just got some Motomags with a coaster on and had a little ride with them without a caliper as backup, very strange feeling but a challenge to get used to I suppose......
-
For normal riding around they would be great but if you like to jump off kerbs, bunny hops etc , landings can hurt when your shins get it from a pedal ???

a few years ago my brother got some z rims with a coaster, we were cranking along the road and went to bunnyhop up a kerb onto some grass. he accidently pedaled back just enough to slam on the brake and throw himself over the bars at speed. funniest thing i,ve ever seen. ;D they do take a bit off getting used to and can be tricky rolling in a ramp.

In 1980 I had a new motomag and it was only about 3 months later my dad made it freewheel after it caused me to have a big off , still got the wonky shin bone and scar to prove it :LolLolLolLol:
