Title: oxalic acid and wheels?
Post by: skki3330 on September 07, 2014, 09:08 PM
Guys has anyone on here put wheels in a OA bath?
Ive got a pair of Rigida steel wheels for a mongoose wire wheel and they need the rust removing.
Will the spokes etc be ok?

Thanks Craig

The OA might discolour the spokes, ive never done rims did everything else though, but to be honest i had better results in the past using Citric Acid, did you try to use steel wool on them? :daumenhoch:

I did an oa bath on my rigida rims and they did the job, never tried spokes though.

Thanks mate...I normally add a couple of teaspoons . The rust should start to turn yellow after a couple of hours if it doesn't add more oa and then keep doing this until you get the right strength .
 Leave in for 24hrs...
