I remember a while ago (probably last year), someone posted up a thread with photos of some alloy parts that they had re-chromed. I think the company were based in the Birmingham/West Midlands area - Does anyone know who the company may have been? I have a Hutch alloy powerdisc and Tuf Neck alloy chainring that I want chroming - They've been mirror polished already. can anyone recommend anywhere? My usual chromers don't do alloy chroming. Thanks - hope somebody can help. :)

Brandy Truffle "I was speaking to Danlightning about chromers last month he said there was a real good one near him , think it was R&S Electroplating Manchester that do alloy real well... have to look inito it ???
"firstly the amount of prep needed to get a good even finish and secondly the risk of the chrome not adherring to the alloy. They also said that H&S was a factor too but given the chemicals they deal with it's negligible ;).

The Burner King: "I had a set of NOS alloy silver ones, had them chromed with london chromers, came out perfect, no pitting , looked factory.

selfpreservation: "doug taylor metal finishing will do it but he wont guarentee the finish its at your own risk (he normally gurantees a chrome job for a year ) cause its proned to peeling , but if anyone can do it he can ...not cheap though

Frosty: "I jsut called them, the number is 01642 244911 Cleveland Chroming." (Castleford Chromers?)
"fantastic job, the only exception being the spider on the 400's. They did phone me about this as apparantly it is alloy and they could not guarantee the chrome taking - which it hasn't very well.

Thanks for the replies. I sent 2 powerdiscs & 2 chainrings to ACF Howell in Walsall about 3 weeks ago. I spoke to them and they were confident that my items could be chromed ok. I'll call them next week to see how it's coming along.
Thanks again. Keep it :radbmxsmilie:
