Yeah, thanks. I'm stoked on how they turned out. The Monocoque has taken a few years to get to this stage . The X-File was probably the easiest build I have done.
-
Sweet :daumenhoch:

There was a set of spins for sale over here about a month ago
-
I'm from Australia, and while you still need to be patient, it's not too hard to find Spin wheels over here. The Spins that were on EBay Uk had a big crack in them. (my mate got burnt on that sale)
Tanks for the props guys, glad you like them.

I've got this 98 Taj that I've kept almost factory spec for 4 years. Back in the day my bikes stayed stock for about 2 seconds. This will get a custom rebuild just the way I rode my Taj's BITD

The threadless quill stem will be going on my Big Daddy build

-
Looking good Gordy. :daumenhoch: What parts are you waiting for?
-
The main thing I am waiting on is a set of hubs from the US, cranks and a few other small bits. I should be able to get a bit more done over this weekend. Problem is I have the General Lee and Big Daddy to finish aswell
-
I love the mid school bikes me, a few bikes that remind me of summer riding days when the body didnt ache so bad. There isnt a bike there that I wouldnt have in my collection, really nice collection :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks for the props fellas, I appreciate it. :)
Here's the 97 Big Daddy that I'm working on, it's had a few slight tweaks since this pic was taken. When this is complete I'll get some better pics.

-
I had a few problems with the old cranks, so I've sourced and fitted a set of 170mm Primo's with Tenderiser pedals and Graveyard sprocket. I've just gotta sort the brakes out and change to a set of tan wall tyres.

Cheers Mark.
You'll just need to get some cash through to Stu on OZ and we can sort out postage when I get a price for you lads.
-
That General Lee and Taj are absolute beauties! Rite up my street!
Looking forward to seeing the Barcode Build.
-
Thanks mate. The barcode isn't too far away from being complete, maybe I the next few days.
Here's an update on the General Lee, I've thrown on some 4pce bars on, but not too sure if they'll stay. I much prefer 2pce bars. What do you think?

likeing your collection :daumenhoch:

cracking collection
Looking forward in seeing the barcode write up

Here's an update of the barcode, wearing its battle scars with pride.
This was built up with about 80% of the original parts that I used on my bike back in the day. I'm pretty stoked that I stored them for all these years. I can almost remember when and where I made all of those scratches.
This might be my favourite build I've done.

Thanks Miggsy. :daumenhoch:
Thanks mate, The Profile is a treat to ride, long and low and hauls ass on the track too. It's one of those frames that you either love or hate or sometimes just say WTF. Anyway it gets a lot of attention.
-
Nice collection you are building for yourself there bro :4_17_5:
That barcode looks the nuts, love it.
Great to see some bikes from the other side of the world and get some pics of them in your local haunts please :daumenhoch:
-
I'll get some pics of them out and about soon. The weather here sux at the moment, it's pretty much the same as sunny ol England. I'm not too worried cause we won the Ashes. Lol

Get 'em up to QLD Gordy, it's like a fecking sauna up here at the moment. 41 degrees predicted for Saturday
What are 'Ashes'? Never heard of 'em..... ;)
-
I'm loving survivor spec builds at the moment and Ive had this "Ramp Room made 1996 Hoffman Flash entombed inside a cardboard box, so it was time for a rebuild. I used all survivor parts and borrowed some bits from another bike. These decals are impossible to find, so while this is in my possession it'll never refinish the paint.
-
Is nice that ramp room flash, th eonly model flash I dont have. Everytime they come up for sale Im either skint or too busy. I have a nos head tube decal for a ramp room made frame and 4 different decal sets for non us built versions.
Matt
-
That Flash is awesome. :daumenhoch:
-
Hahaha, thanks mate. I've just got my Holmes and Monocoque to finish and then I think I'm done. Hit list will be complete.
-
I just finished mocking up this 95 S&M Holmes today. I'm still undecided whether this will stay survivor spec or to give it a fresh coat of powder? Until then, I'm just gonna ride it until I can make up my mind.
-
Imho - survivor all day long. Paint doesn't look that bad on it, it'll still have all it's old battle scars :)
No offence to peeps, but unless mid stuffs really buggered refinishing em always makes em look a bit sterile.
-
Agree with Dan. Survivor all the way. :daumenhoch:
-
The only reason why i have had thoughts of a fresh powder job is because i currently have 7 black bikes in my collection and that the paint is pretty trashed on this frame. Anyway, im just gonna keep riding it until i make up my mind.
Here's a couple pics.

That has to be the sweetest flash I've ever seen
-
Great collection :coolsmiley:
One of the things I like best about your bikes is you use black wall tyres :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks fellas.
Yeah I love black walls, it's only recently that I've put tan walls on one of my bikes, and that was because they were cheaper and easier to source.
Once you go black, you'll never go back.
-
Once you go black, you'll never go back.
Same here fella - used to be all about the black-wall. Monsigneur 209 bullied me back into the tan walls a couple of years ago - I'm ashamed to say I folded :LolLolLolLol:
I feel all dirty now.
-
That's how you build a Flash. Probably the nicest one I've seen.
-
Thanks lads.
Im stoked on the Flash, the only change will be fitting some Flash forks and maybe a Profile Tri-Fan. I love all the battle wounds on it and it still rides a treat.
-
I had a bit of time to play around with the Big Boy today. I fitted the gyro, headset, seat clamp, cranks and sprocket guard. I'm still waiting on the brakes and chainwheel bolts to arrive then I can finish this sucker.
Here's a couple progress shots.

second that ..the big boy look well tasty.... :daumenhoch:

I gotta say that without Gavin's help, I wouldnt have had the opportunity to build one of these up. Thanks for your help mate, I appreciate it.

:daumenhoch:
-
Time for an update.
I had some clearance issues with the tyres, so I had to go with some skinnier ones so they wouldn't rub on the breaks or frame. I have also fitted Peregrine pedals and seat clamp, AD990's, pegs and chain. I'm just going to trim the front cable a bit and it's complete for the moment. I'm about to start assembly on this Captain America themed Hara Monocoque Elite. This bike first appeared on the cover of the January 97 issue of BMX Plus after being displayed at the Interbike trade show.

Here's a recent pic of the original bike that John Buultjens from Haro took for me so I could use as a reference.

Great thread Gordy, love the Big Boy, makes me miss mine! :4_17_5:

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words.
Rob, I always loved your Big Boy and is pretty much the sole reason why I bought the frame kit. I had saved several pictures of your build on my computer and when a frame came up for sale, I just had to snap it up. I basically modelled my build off of yours with a few small changes. So thanks for the inspiration mate.
The Monocoque is a labour of love, I can still remember soiling my pants when I first saw it on the cover of BMX Plus back in 1997. For many years, i had always thought about that bike and asked myself, "whatever happened to that bike?"
Last year, I had purchased a bulk lot of BMX Plus magazines off EBay and it had the January 1997 issue in there which had the Captain America Monocoque on the cover. About a week later, the magazines arrived and the same day a Monocoque Elite frame came up for sale, I snapped that bad boy up pretty quickly and then had a crazy idea of recreating the cover bike.
I did a little bit of investigation on the bike and found out that it was still stored at Haro HQ in the States, it just so happened that John Buultjens (brand manager for Haro bikes) used to live in the same town as me in Australia and we rode with one another every once in a while. I sent him an email and asked firstly asked whether the bike was for sale? John shut that idea down pretty quick, lol. So I asked whether I could have some Hi-Res pictures so I could recreate it the bike, a few days later he came through with the goods and I had some very good reference pictures.
I then asked a mate of mine who is a very talented air brush artist and midschool lunatic, whether he would take on the spray job. He was super pumped on the idea, so we worked out a plan and the above pictures are the result of his hard work. I have been busy sourcing parts for the last 12 months and basically have everything now ready to complete the bike.
Here's a build thread that I have been updating on OZBMX.

Thanks guys.
Yeah the fridge is awesome, its better for storing bike parts as its a bit too small to use as a beer fridge.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know the year on the big daddy? I still don't know if I've got a 94 or 95 and its quite annoying. Any clue when the B40*** serials clicked over to 95?

That RObbo ... still makes me go "oooooooo" :4_17_5:

Working on this 98 Hoffman Taj at the moment, im trying to get it specced as i had mine BITD. The blue ODI grips will get the arse and I'm still undecided whether I want to keep the Superforks as I ran Pitchforks at one point too. the Superforks were ridicously heavy and it did away with the ugly ass headset.
Anyways here's a progress pic.

I saw a JAD for sale on BMXMuseum for silly money but I was still tempted ... :slayer:

there used to be a couple of JADS turn up at MK in the early days at least. I think i'd feel more confident thrashing the holeshot but both sexy as fook :daumenhoch:

:nickswan:Cheers guys.
The Holeshot rides real nice to ride, the geometry is exactly the same as a Free Agent Limo, so it's plenty roomy up front with a shortish back end to make it easier to pull up and over rollers , it manuals for dayz too
-
I have been a little quiet around here of late, but I am still working on a few bikes.
I recently got my S&M Kris Bennett built again after I needed to source a few missing parts. It's not 100% complete yet, but it's not far off.

-
I've also been working on my polished Monocoque Elite.
I wanted to change this one up a bit, as it seems as though everyone is building Monocoques (including myself) with the same formula of Spin wheels, Shimano DX brakes, Answer Allumilite forks and some form of alloy crank set. I decided to make this look a bit "stock", so on went Group 1 forks, Fusion 3 pce cranks and a set of Kore Speedhoops with a Hayes mechanical disc brake, for some trick factor. I still need to dial everything in as I am waiting for a brake cable to arrive.
This bike is going to be a rider, so I'll be stoked when it gets finished.

The haro looks excellent without the spins gordy mate
-
I got the Monocoque finished yesterday in its current guise, I'm pretty happy with how it's come out.
The wheels are so much heavier compared to the Spins that were on it previously, but they look so much beefier and complete the look that I wanted from this bike.

That King is the ducks guts!
Your builds all look great. Perfect stance on the Bennett.
-
I finally have the ACE Holeshot finished, I still may change the forks to a set of Brand X or McMahons if I can find a clean pair but the Answers will do for the moment. I just fitted a PAUL brake lever and a Chip N Dale decal was the final piece of the puzzle. For those that don't know Andy Currie is the man behind ACE (Andy Currie Enterprises) and he also owns and operates a bike shop shop called Chip N Dale BMX.
Anyway onto the pics, hope you like.

That's a lovely frame, what is it?
-
proper lovely collection you've got there :smitten:
-
Its a TNT Hwa Fong Daddy.
I had a slightly later model of these back in the day, and have been trying to track one down for a about 5 years. I was lucky enough that a mate of mine found one for sale, immediately bought it to secure it, then on sold it to me. I was happy enough to throw him some extra cash for hooking me up with it, because its a grail frame of mine.
If you want to see a beautiful example of one, check out midschooljons yellow 95 model. Its truly a work of art.

Unfamiliar with a lot of your stuff Gordy but gotta say you build lovely bikes. :daumenhoch:
Extremely nice collection you've got there mate. ;)

I have a bike show on this weekend, so I've been busy tweaking and finishing off a few builds ready for the show.
The first is the General Lee which I've had for years, but the frame has sat on a shelf for the last few years after borrowing some parts to complete another bike, after sourcing some replacements, ive been able to get it buil again.

I've also tweaked the Bennett after building a new set of wheels, DK 48H hubs laced to Sun Ringle Rhyno lite rims.

I recently finished this Standard Trls250 which I've set up as a rider.
I took it out for a ride this last weekend at local bowl before hitting up this wall at a cool street spot.

It's been a few months since I've logged on here, after being busy with house renovations and selling my property.
Well now that's all sorted, I've got a bit of time to finish off some bikes.
I had some drama with the previous powdercoater who refinished my TNT Hwa Fong Daddy, they did such a rubbish job that it just left me pissed off with the bike. So after the frame and fork sat on a shelf for a few months while I tried to build up some motivation to finish it again. I stripped off the old powder and had it painted in factory gloss black, fitted decals and gave it a quick mock up before I finish the build this weekend.
Here's a couple cheeky pics.
