Title: Aero Reflex build.
Post by: Diesel1 on May 20, 2013, 11:43 PM
Hi all,

Here starts the build for my....... Aero Reflex!  Yes I know an Aero Reflex build on here is nothing new but as I usually frequent raleighburner.com it is a new route for me.

I know it is not a Raleigh but as Raleigh did not produce a freestyle bmx I have had to look to another manufacturer.

I will add to this thread as I go.

The frame, obtained from curby and previously owned by eamonn I think, stripped of the old decals and powdered mid candy blue.

I got a, slightly modified! , Renthal layback from peter2moped on raleighburner.com.  I have given it a coat of etch primer and flattened it down.  It will have another coat tomorrow and then get the paint started.

Nice frame sets these apart from that niggly rear frame stander either side that catch your feet.

What you putting on it bro  ???

Thanks for the links Terry!

I do not take into account anything after '86!!! Anything after '86 is New School to me.

I must admit I didn't remember the Shock at all.  Were they any good?

I have some Skyways, 880/901, tech 4, Fusion stem, Odyssey gyro, Sugino spider/chain ring, Aeroyal seat, MX seat post clamp, Shimano SX pedals and AME grips.

That clamp is getting either red glass paint and going on Jane's Custom Aero Pro work rider or white paint and going on this Aero Reflex build.

nice :daumenhoch:

Thanks fellas.

I am sure you will build one soon enough Rob!  ;)

Thanks cdt808,  I have seen lots of chrome Aero Reflex build but only a handful of other finishes.

Looks to be the start of a nice build!!  Almost looks likes an anno colour  :daumenhoch:

It is very similar to anno blue.  I love the candy colours straight on top of chrome.

It is a bit too cold for the rattle can today so the primer will have to wait.

I was talking to Russ J about his the other week.  They never seem to come up for sale/restoration.  I imagine you would have to reproduce one using a different kind of Burner.

The yellow is just etch primer Bendy.  I still have to put the white paint on.  :)

This is going to be white on candy blue.

I have progressed a little further this weekend while it was warm enough.

I think the temperature may have been too low for the last coat of white as it seems a little matt looking.

This looks like an interesting build, the colour looks ace! What have you got planned decal-wise?I would lose the Aeroyal seat,I don't think they are right on anything other than burners! :daumenhoch:

Superb as expected, I just need to work out where they all go!  ;D

I have painted a few more bits....

I have put etch primer on some Sugino chainring bolts which will have blue glass paint and some DX pedals that will have a temporary coat of white until I can get then powdercoated white.  I also need to file the axles of my front Skyway for the Aero Reflex forks!

As for the Aeroyal, I will always be a Burner boy at heart!  Also they are the most comfortable cruising seat.

Hi all,

There were a few issues with some of the parts I sourced for this build and as such it ended up using some parts from my Koizumi Team Aero Pro Burner.  I took the bike on the Worcester ride and had a couple of freestyle 'incidents' that have left me with two fractures in my right elbow and wrist and also two busted knees with ligament damage.  I haven't been able to do anything with the bike since.

Here are a couple of photos of it as it stands.....
