Title: Kuwahara KZ-2
Post by: KeithyT on April 21, 2013, 07:08 PM
Hi all,

I've nearly got all the parts assembled for my early 80s Kuwahara KZ build now. I've decided to go for something a little different and try a KZ-2 rider build but it's also partly inspired by the E.T. movie replica bikes.

Here it is ready for to get cracking, still waiting on a couple of parts (stem and hubs) and have a couple of either/or choices to make (you can see two chainrings in the pics)

(https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eS4d0-y_Mok/UXQnbATAngI/AAAAAAAAA0Q/BRfxQGn9zfY/s800/P1060774.JPG)

I've been doing quite a bit of deciding, research, and digging over the last couple of months since I got this frameset from mattbloke. Thanks to Southern Andy, Jaan, glynnyboy, bodamus, Robmac, thebigdog, Funkyworm, and The Burner King for help and parts so far.

As normal with this age of bike there is sometimes sparse and conflicting info on the details of the KZ-2 spec (i've looked at the old ads, BMX Action test and spec from 82). So I'm trying to get it how I want it but sticking to the normal Kuwie parts where possible. Some stuff might be subject to change.  ;)

Any progress Keith?  ::)
bought some Oven Pride  :P

Seriously though I just wanted to compile everything first before building, and still not quite there on some of the parts yet. Maybe I'm taking the "don't rush it" advice a bit too literally  :LolLolLolLol:

Not sure where all my time goes to be honest. Off on holiday to Bruges next week so I'll get cracking in May I hope
