Title: Shimano Dura-Ace 1st Gen question?
Post by: Vos on March 06, 2013, 12:19 PM
Hi guys,

These Shimano Dura-Ace 1st Gen 2-speed race cranks arrived today and want to use them on a build.

I've removed the 52T outer ring and replaced it with the 42T inner ring (although I might stick a nice Tuf Neck on there eventually)

Anyhow, it might sound like a stupid question, but does anyone know which spindle I need to run these.?

I'm looking at nabbing this Dura-Ace spindle, but was wondering what my options are?

Thanks! :)

I've just seen that kungfunky has posted a set of these in the parts section on the Vintage forums. I'll drop him a line  :)
Still, any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

It depends on what was used on it previously thus determining what can be used if you are going to ride it. It was likely to have been an ISO axle which is used for these & Campy etc...

If a JIS (primarily used with SR, Sugino) was used then this would have slightly stretched it so you would need to use that if you are going to ride it. ISO or JIS will suffice if for show.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. It doesn't look/feel like a JIS has been in these, I did a test with a japanese axle.
