Gents
I have a very unhappy rear HP-48s hub, the axle hardly turns.
Is there a rebuild kit available including axel?
Anyone done this successfully before, what might trip me up when doing it?
Thanks

are you hubs sealed or loose ball, both are easy to replace, pop the bearings out and get the number off the seal
grab some off ebay or your local bearing supplier.
-
as dan said pop the bearings out and get the number off the seal or just take the whole bearing to a local bearing supplier and they will measure it and give you some the same
as for the axle, it most likely is ok but if not then axles do pop up now and again
-
Cool, thanks Dan, I will take a look for the number, I've seen loads of bearings on eBay.
It's actually for your old Dirt Bros, beauty of a bike!

sorry to jump in on this thread but anyone know where I can get a replacement front axle for a pere super pro hub?

Will this work for mine too then?
-
if you have super pro hubs (sealed bearing) then yes but if your axle's threads are fine and its not visibly bent then you dont need a new axle just new sealed bearings
if you have semi pro hubs (loose ball bearing) then no this axle is no good
-
That axle kit is wrong guys. I have bought a Baggio one before and they are different to super pro hubs.
I'm assuming that those axles are for the earlier suzue hubs. I was ok as I only needed the cones and axle nuts.
Here are some diagrams of what you need. :daumenhoch:

I hope this helps. :daumenhoch:

So . . . I dismantled the rear hub and its buggered. There was a bearing missing and the internal cup was smashed to bits on the drive side. The other side was fine.

they are loose ball hubs, so you need the correct size ball bearings, a normal threaded axle (not a sealed bearing axle) and obviously New bearing cups as one of yours is knackered

Thanks Kev.
Do you reckon I could salvage these parts out of a Large flange Suzue hub? Also does it need to be a rear or can the parts come out of a front (except of the axel of course)?
-
when i get home ,hopital boo,i will grab an old hub
-
dan you hospital?
hope all is ok, hips?
not sure if a large flange suzue hub will work, gotta be worth a try :daumenhoch:
