Title: Who else has built a bike for their other half?
Post by: That Swan Guy on February 13, 2013, 04:13 PM
What a fookin ball ache!

When I build for me it's easy, I can see colour combo's in my head, parts that I need etc etc.

But I'm building one for the better half at the mo.
Picking a frame she liked was a right royal pain in the arse.
Even deciding on a colour scheme was a nightmare!

Fook going shoe shopping with her :idiot2:

Then when I speak to her on the phone she keeps asking if I'm enjoying building it!
NO!

Everything that could've been a problem on it, has been a problem on it.

No wonder I've named it Christine!

Anyway, it should hopefully be ready to roll at Chester :LolLolLolLol:

I've built a couple , an S&m next gen dirtbike ( not quite finished ) for cruising and an S&m black bike to ride park on .
It's simple , only give them limited options or like you say it can be like pulling teeth !
She now wants something different so have got a 2hip pork frame which I believe she wants candy red

You're lucky you come that high up in the order Dan, I would come when she's nothing left to think of, probably just after biscuit crumbs under the seat cushions...

Built this for my lovely wife Jo about 4 years ago.

Just about to start building a new one for her though to match the one she had as a kid.

no - she has almost zero interest (now and again there might be a comment about something looking nice but that's about it, which is fair enough as I don't exactly show an interest in bags!)

and in any case BMX seats are not good for wimminz - those seats might be painful for us but thanks to their child-bearing hips they will cut like a razor
fine if you're racing like mrs ratty  :2gunsfiring_v1: not so good for a Rad cruise and you want to have a sit down pedal

I bought the wife an Aero Reflex and a load of bits last year but we ended up rowing about what bits to get to finish it off. She kept on saying that I was always taking over  :yahoo_silent:
Then she got pregnant and lost interest. I might ride it at Chester if I dont get any of my other builds finished and if I'm allowed to play out  :-[

My missus fell in love with Craig Curbow's Tange Hot Heart build when she saw the pictures from MK11, and she has been pestering me to build her one ever since, for no other reason than - in typical girly fashion - she loves anything heart shaped!  :smitten:

But, as you will all know, sourcing a decent HH frame that some twonk hasn't taken a drill to in order to ET it is not easy, or cheap, but I continue to look.......

My misses built her own Skyway TA last year.  Mind you I did have to fund a few of the parts!  She has been over the the track with me on one of my crusiers and started to learn how to jump, and has come mountain biking to chicksands a couple of times.

I am currently  collecting parts to build her her own mountain bike as she wants to come out more once the weather get warmer.

Not bikes but ski's. SA as banged on about trying skiing, so lent her some of my boots which wouldnt close on her calves because womens boots are bigger, but she had a go on the local hill and enjoyed it. So, bought her some boots, altered some spare slalom skis for her, and said are you having a go... NO... oh ffs. Want to go to Tamworth? No.. Next time.. If she said build me a bmx 'id fook her off.. Split arses..
