Proper job budget build this one. most parts recycled from either my parts bin or the now sacrificed DK General Lee. Its first outing will be MK!!
I am waiting for the frame to arrive tomorrow via courier, bought of ebay, turned out to be poggy77 on here!!!
been told it has 14mm dropouts and a 1"1/8th headset, but this is all in doubt until it turns up
this is what I've got going on so far
Hoffman Condor frame [all help with age appreciated]
NOS Condor Rainbow decals
DK Forks (black) if 1"1/8th
DK bars (black) or Kneesaver copies (chrome)
Primo Casket stem or DK (black) if 1"1/8th
FSA Pig DH Pro sealed headset (black) if 1"1/8th
Front wheel Sun ZX25 rim laced to sealed formula hub (black)
Fit seatpost (black)
Odyssey seat (black)
Demolition cranks with 22mm hollow spindle / sealed BB (black)
Xposure 44t chainwheel with bolt on bashguard (black)
DK Iron Cross pedals (black)
Odyssey Elvolver U brake (black)
Lizard small lever (black/alloy)
Rear wheel Alex Supra J laced to a sealed prolite stealth hub (black)
ACS Claws 16t freewheel [chrome!]
Duro whitewall tyres [controversial choice!!]
The frame is getting a good old mid school rattle can black paint job along with the branks to freshen them up. the lugs are missing on the frame and ive purchassed some screw in ones and am getting the holes retapped on friday by our machine shop at work
Still stuck on the seat I have two oddy ones here, ones a fat long fooker [the dildo seat, copyright ED] the other is more of a slim race seat, both are tatty so its only either one is only a stop gap till i can find a suitable seat to fit into the miniscule budget
here are poggys pics

Hi Jaymz old fella, is it me or if you look at the "above" photo, the left hand seat/chain stay looks a little "splayed" or bent...
??

I dont think it is as Ive spoken to the person that sold it too poggy and if it was bent they wouldve definately told me, but for £20 if it is I aint going to complain!!

no stamp on the gusset? looks like a 95 USA made 1" frame :daumenhoch:
-
frame looks spot on to me :daumenhoch:
-
I have read every thread I can on condors from here and BMXmuseum and im still none the wiser, if it is a 95 ramp room frame, then why would the serial start KF like the 97 taiwanese frames, why are the dropouts 14mm this started in 97 on the taiwanese frames, there is no stamp on the gusset like the 97's and the shape of the gusset isnt as flat and squared off as the 97's WHY WHY too many questions. All will be answered tomorrow hopefully

speak to condor96 (adam dawson) he's your man for condor info :daumenhoch:
-
I've read his thread on here and his more detailed one on bmx museum [twice] I'll give it a rest now till the frame tips up and i can get the vernier on it and measure the bugger up and look to see if the paint is thick and covering a logo stamp
-
solved it :) look through the condor thread again.the tatty chrome 95 with purple stickers is my old one.look below it at the 96 the way the seat stays join and that's the frame in your pic.it looks like you've scored the last usa made frame :daumenhoch:
-
that would be cool, poggy reckons the drops are definately 14mm and dont look ground out, GRRRRRRR
-
Well its sat at home waiting for me to finish work. :)

I'm going to be proper gutted if it is as I thought the same thing but the 1st guy selling it said it had H+B stamped on it :'(
-
Good hit, remember that one ,was going to bid but forgot about it ::)
-
I've taken that risk on a couple of things and they ended up $hit lol

http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/hoffman/30696
is it this green underneath? if so then it's a 97 taiwanese frame.they had 14mm dropouts and 1"headtube.i was a bit confused as you can't see the hb stamp in the pic as the powder is thick.
-
After many calls and texts with the man above its finally be nailed down as a 97 1" headtube 14mm dropouts. when i removed the BB cups there was metallic green paint as in the above link. and under the powder barely visible was the HB stamp, so mystery solved
here's a teaser pic of a few bits slapped on to get a taste of it, dont have a seat yet, but looked odd without one on the pic so slapped the oddy one on
the cranks and pedals need a refurb, and no the bashguard isnt on upside down I'm a cacky left hander so i ride left foot forward!!

I think so too, and although a bit sad, glad its taiwanese one, I can now abuse it and leave it outside the pub without too much worry
Its booked in for surgery tomorrow at work for the lugs and a small 'flex fighter' made for the forks as I hate chopping the top of the forks off. Just hope the decals and stem turn up now Ive released I gave them both the wrng postcode :( :(
-
Got all the hallmarks of a sweet build there Jaymz :smitten:

I hope so mate

Looking good, have you sprayed it yet? If not it doesn't look too bad as it is.
I have been giving the D130 a bit of a going over tonight to see what's what and decide on which bits I need to source.
I am trying not to spend too much on it but the flaking chrome on the rear wheel especially is really bugging me. If I could lay my hands on some 48H chrome rims for sensible money I would be tempted to re-use the HB hubs as they seem sweet but just have new rims and spokes.
Right, I'm off to post in the wanted section.
-
The paint is good. It's Mat powder I've just given it a t cut
-
Looks cool J - looking forward to seeing the finished bike :daumenhoch:
-
so the condor went into the machine shop at work for lug surgery and have a spacer made to take up the extra thread on the forks as i didnt want to cut the fork top off
repaired lugs

spacer, black top nut now fitted

Now onto the frame, decals arrived today :) fitted, got the downtube decal a bit high up :( but hey ho, they arent the right decals anyway, and ive found my bikes suffer from scratched decals on the lower downtube from the other bikes pedals hitting it all the time, so probbly for the best. Now the decals are on you can see why I've chosen all black parts, its makes the pink decals really really pop off the bike
front wheel axel ground down and new bearings fitted, slotted in nicely.
two choices of bars, knee saver copies or DK bars, I'm completely torn [please ignore the shlt stem, my DK has not yet arrived]
with knee savers

Just waiting on the postman to bring my oddy 777 seat and my DK freestyle stem. As this going to be rider [as all my bikes are] Im wondering whether or not to refurb the pedals and crank arms, they are only going to wear anyway
comments and critiques welcomed
-
It'll be the dk bars for me. :daumenhoch:
May I ask where you got the hoffman decal from? Thinking I might revisit mine...
-
This is shaping up nicely! :daumenhoch:
-
Got them off a chap on Facebook called Matt sully a friend of eggs. They are die cut so a Bastard to fit and the bike stand has done a good job of screwing the bottom of the top tube decals up already
Well its built. Pics later. I went with the knee savers as once the dk stem was on they were the only choice that looked right
-
OK Peeps its big reveal time

Lots of planning and parts collecting then blam!! Wouldve been quicker if the headset being one inch and not inch/eighth hadnt have caught me out, but gaz was quick on the postage to get the DK stem out to me
I'm thinking i really need a gyro, which is annoying as I just sold an inch one dirt cheap a couple of weeks back
-
Looking good dude, hope your're happy, thanx for the feed back by the way !!!!
