Hi Guys,
Go easy on me this is my first build and I thought to share some pictures with you. I would like to thank a few Friends for helping me out along the way :daumenhoch: (you know who you are)
This is a 1981 Robinson which has been owned from new by a good friend of mine, I think I was very fortunate to get to own this bike and thank him for that very much :daumenhoch:
The bike had been complete at some point albeit over the 20 years this has been in storage a lot of the parts were taken from it and no doubt used on other bikes along the way, the bike was raced quite often by the owner so as expected are a few battle scars here but I am really pleased with the outcome.
I have very recently changed the bars to something very similar in shape to the Robinson Pro, the Grips to Black AME rounds and also changed to a straight seat post, next will be the chain ring to be replaced with a black 44 T .
This Robinson was always intended to mirror the Robinson Pro I raced back in the early 80's, a bike I remember more than any.
One day I do intend to replace the crank and pedals with a 3 piece albeit at the moment on those sunny days out my Daughters like to ride the Robbo so you can guess the rest..... :coolsmiley: Iam on pins all the time...... :2funny:
The bike when I first brought it home.

After restoring the Robinson and checking out some posts on how we all go about restorations on Rad that being date correct or just custom builds It got me thinking about the "show bike" and "the survivor" some more.
I have a really decent survivor Robbo here or so I would like to believe I have and I suppose we all think just how good can I get this bike to maximise the restoration qualities, I am guilty there too albeit only partially re-stickered the bike, fitted new tyres etc, kind off a sympathetic survivor restoration.
After I had built the GT, I got to thinking about making the bike as original looking as possible and I have now re-visited the build by fitting the orgional tryes that came with the bike and were used in the 80's when the bike was raced, and also tried to age the brand new decal kit, the aim is hopefully creating a more authentic look for a survivor find.
I hope you like it.. :daumenhoch:
