Do you remember the french bloke, Michele I think his name was? Always very eager to help a young fella in to his Farah's ??? He used to be the shop manager at Smarty Pants in Upton Park. I had all that gear, Lyle & Scott jumpers, Lacoste tracksuits, Sergio Tacchini track suits & t-shirts, Gabicci cardigans, Ellesse polo necks. I remember going to my first school disco when we moved from Elm Park to Upminter when I was a 1st year in an all white Lacoste tracksuit and white polo neck and everyone else was in drain pipe jeans and green bomber jackets. Some ickle 'mod' stuck a ball of chewing gum in my hair so I chased him down the hall to give him a larruping and got hit straight in the face by a brass swing door handle and remember 'coming to' several minutes later in the medical room. ahhh the good old days :smitten:

It was Gaynes school in Upminster mate, same school as lazychubbs went to. I would have probably ended up at Albany or Abbs Cross though if we'd stayed in Elm Park. Smarty Pants was a top shop, used to be up there all the time. There were some good ones in Bethnal Green too but I forget the names of them now. Can you remember the name of the shop that was at the top end of Romford Market opposite Beaties that used to sell Doc Martins and Bowling shoes for the mods then swapped over to Casual gear like Kickers and stuff? Me and my sisters have been doing our heads in trying to remember it! I'll have to try and find some pics from BITD, must have loads of me at Rom in my gear, we lived just over the road from it and my sister worked in there so I got in for free, and I always tried to look my best. ;)
