I have noticed there are a few people who buy stuff on here then immediatly sell on Ebay just for profit, these parts are often bought by Radsters, who missed out on them cos they were,nt lookin that minute >:(
These people generally put nothing back into Rad >:(
So......do we "Out" the culprits,so no one sells to them, or ban them from the site,or do we sit back and do nothing ???
Discuss.

They are bottom feeders - life's full of them
If they're paying your asking price - what should you care - you've got your money at the end of the day
Don't sell to them if it upsets you

I object to missing out on something, often by seconds, only to see it on Ebay the week after, for twice the price.
If i think its gonna be sold on by the person i wont sell it to them. :)

There was a time on here where that simply didn't go on. In my book, not cool.
However, as Dan rightly says - if they're paying your asking price.....

I've bought and sold plenty on here and once it's changed hands and the money has been banked then that's all you can say ffs.
I've sold stuff too cheap and people have split up bikes and made a tidy profit but had to pish about on ebay to do so which they're welcome to do as I hate ebay.
I've bought stuff cheap on here and sold it on when I'm finished too so it's swings & roundabouts as far as I'm concerned.
Once you've bought something it's yours to do whatever you want with.
Just my tuppence-worth.... ;-)

Yes, theres one guy who likes mx1000,s ,900,s tec 3s,mx seatclamps etc, buys them on here then sells on Ebay,do a search in the for sale section, one name crops up with alarming regularity,he never buys ,frames wheels, etc ???
-
There's only one way you can police practices such as this and and that's by getting together and boycotting the leeches
-
Keep it in the family I say... :)
-
Agreed - once money's changed hands it's theirs to sell - but..... it fookin' narks me off when you see someone on here buy stuff on the forum, then offer it up at three times the price they bought it for when you put a wanted add up. There's at least one person I've noticed with two eBay accounts that every now and again shill bids on their own auctions n'all. Oh yeah - and I've had me fingers burnt a couple of times when I've bought and the items have turned out to be in shite condition......
End of the day though - their stuff - I just won't buy or sell to em (not that I do a lot of selling - gotts stop hoarding) :)
-
If i think its gonna be sold on by the person i wont sell it to them. :)
And neither will I :daumenhoch:
me too . It's should be kept for people who love Bmx and building bikes not making a profit . :daumenhoch:
-
I buy on here, I sell on here at a loss. . . . Im the perfect member :|
-
I would rather give it away than sell it to someone who doesn't actually want it ,but knows its cheap and buys it just to sell it on again within a week or so for a big profit :-\
And this has happened over the years lots of times :(
I guess you can't stop it ,you just watch who you are selling too ,
A bit like you watch who you are buying off ;)
-
never mind, aint keen on shill bidders tho
-
i can't see how that would be possible tbh
-
For me, I don't think it's a black and white issue. Personally, I have no choice but to trade at times to fund my builds.
If I didn't do this, I simply couldn't take part in something I genuinely have a long held love and respect for.
I guess I'm saying there's potentially a right way to go about it, then there's taking the piss.
It's important to recognize that contributing to the community goes beyond buying and selling.
Well, for what it's worth, that's my bit said :-\
-
There was a member on here who on a regular used to beg for stuff in the wanted section and then sell on e-bay, think he has been sussed now.
I think if you have sold something for the price you wanted then thats fair enough, but when you have been knocked down on your pice and then see the same bit on e-bay a few days later, it does P you off a bit :2gunsfiring_v1:
-

I buy stuff from the museum and sell/Trade on here :-\ I only charge what I pay in the first place or trade it for I really want. As a known buyer on the museum, I generally get discounted from the guys and so can get it cheaper for you guys :daumenhoch:
They have sooo much over there, I like to get it and share it over here. I rarely buy from Ebay as most people on there have more than 1 account and just bid up their items to make a vast profit. It's so easy and unpoliced. Its just down to who really wants to pay that price.
Example here;- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150618141862&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Do you really think it's worth the bid price ?? Amazing how I am not hidden but the other bidders are. I will wait to see if I get offered a sloppy seconds on it.
PS:- ALL items sold on RAD should retain the original selling price. Stop deleting the price with the word sold guys. It's nice to see what it sold for and if it does appear on Ebay, then you will know what to bid to :daumenhoch:
-
don't buy owt these days.............. :)

-
I worded that wrong, sorry. I don't beleive in hiding peoples ID's anyway. No need for it. Just hides dodgy dealership.
PS TELLIS302000:- I know someone who is dealer in ............ and uses ebay with several accounts to boost the item outcome. I do know what I am saying and I do know how it works, ALL of it :coolsmiley:

I am selling all my stuff part from 1 bike more than likely next week but I will decide where I sell it and how much for irrespective of how much i got the bits for.
Some stuff i have had for over 3 years so remembering prices, who i got the item off etc would be difficult anyway.
I have bought stuff on here and sold it elsewhere for sure....and many of the lads on here will tell you i have given them bits like lock nuts, brakes, chainrings etc for nothing or sold bits for way less than I paid.

I understand that buying on here only to make a profit on the bay is a slap round the face to people who really wanted the part
But again people on here have had stuff off the bay and sold it here for a profit also, so it works both ways
Lots of people have more than one account here and on eBay and they always slip up on a picture they forgot they had already used
I have one username and it's the same on here, eBay, bw, n rewind so everyone knows what I had and from who
I have had items off people and when I change my mind and want to resell it I up the price a little so as 1 I can get back exactly what it cost me inc postage and 2 it gives people the opertunity to knock me down on it to what I paid for it in the first place as peeps love a haggle
If I have to sell on eBay its because i get no joy on the forums when i try to resell it, the price is increased because everyone knows that to get your money back this is the only way due to all the fees involved on eBay such ad listing fees final value fees an paypal fees
at the same time when I sell on the bay most people send you a message asking how much outside of eBay you will sell it for
So it allows for a wider audience so to speak and sometimes an instant sale
I'm a belever in if you get what you want for the item then sell it to who ever
as at the end of the day it's yours to do with as you please
people here an on all forums are mostly lying if they say they never do it because how do you fund your hobby otherwise unless you are just minted to the nines
What pisses me off is the stuff like tuf neck stems or redline stems n juicy parts these sell for stupid money and people allow themselves to pay stupid prices for them
and anyone who finds a cheap one is defo gonna sell it on for a profit and don't even think about saying you wouldn't because your a daisy if you do
At the end of the day its the way of the world and if you want it bad enough you will pay for it
PEACE  :wtf: :LolLolLolLol:
-
when people rant on about high prices on bmx parts etc etc lets not forget everybody that WE ALL have helped create the high prices !! not necessarily on radbmx but Ebay has been the downfall like when people slag biagio off for his high prices he has not thought fook it i'm gonna put them that high he has been coached by what people will pay for them on ebay and with so many people on ebay worldwide there are a lot of people "wanting that part" and get dragged into a false sense that " they will never get it again" i know i have done it myself-i have also paid over the odds from people on here and also when i didn't know what i was looking for bought fake parts from well respected members on here but i'm not going to go shouting their names from the rooftops and embarrass them as that's not what i'm about -i will also openly admitt that i have made some money on here whether on purpose or not but can guarantee that i have lost a great deal more !!! but then since the radbmx shop has been open i have probably spent somewhere in the region of £2000-£3000 on buying bikes and parts so any money i make goes back into bmx as lets face it not everyone has high flying highly paid jobs that has a big disposable income so if making money out of bmx helps fund your passion for bmx then whats the problem?
and lets not forget also that basically this post has probably been started out by someone "missing that part they will never get again"
-
My thread simply stated that a few people come on here JUST to buy parts to sell on ebay.
I asked if they should be outed, banned or do nothing.
there,s been many replies, but not many stating,BAN,"OUT THEM",or "DO NOTHING", which is the question i asked ???
I know the parts i want will turn up eventually, thats not what i,m bothered about, its people taking advantage of good prices on Rad,SOLELY to sell on,on ebay :daumenhoch:
This aint about general trading of parts, profit making or not, if you make money good on ya,if you lose money ,thats life. Thankyou :)

Some good 'REALISTIC' points there in the last few posts.....
Can't say no more really.

All this talk of 'the community' and keeping prices real are stupid, I have been a part of this 'community' for a very long time and I am of the belief that once you buy it, it is yours, sell it on ebay, put it on a bike, have a w*nk over it, it is nobody's business but the person who bought the item.
Why ban them? Why even mention it? Just keep out of it.
If I see an item in the For Sale section and I want it then I buy it, if I don't want it and someone else buys it and then they sell it on the next day on ebay for a profit then good for them.
I personally think many of the problems with high prices for BMX parts are simply because a lot of people think that there is only 1 type of part for their bike. For example, I see way too many bikes that have MX1000 brakes, Tuff Neck stems, Kashimax aero seats, Redline flight cranks and because of this the sellers of these items ask top dollar for them. There were loads of different (and better) components used bitd, that you can find for a hell of a lot less than the 'popular' (read common) items.
Think outside the box a bit more for your builds and you will find better looking items that are not so common and you will pay a lot less for them. It just takes a bit of thought and homework.

DO NOTHING......you can't police it.
Who is going to ban people.....the 'community'?
We all saw what the 'community' thought of Tellis dibbing those Supergooses yesterday.
He got accused of dibbing em to split on ebay just because he's a newish member.
Who wouldn't have dibbed them at that price? No-one. Just so happened Tellis got there first and he bore the brunt of a complete
waste of a thread which should have been shelved as soon as the bad blood started to flow.
A joke gone too far in my opinion.
I believe thats why we buy 'Site Supporters' Tags isn't it? So we can buy and sell freely?

Sad to say this is yet another thread that was started by a very respectable RADSTER and has been taken the wrong way.
http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=106591.0
"SO WHY SHOULD I BUY A SUPPORTER TAG ? " "WHAT DO I GET OUT OF IT ?" for less than £1 a month, you get this and more
1) Ability to sell and trade BMX items in the Market Place - hitting your target without the cost of ebay .........
im with Andy on this one guys , most people sell items on rad at a fair price , they dont need want the part any more and offer it to us radsters at a fair price. if after a day or so if it hasnt sold most radsters either bump their thread and openly say if it dont sell here this time its going on the bay . Weve all had a fair chance to buy it then. once on ebay these parts can go for daft money , but thats ebay ... some times you win some times you lose.
I think Rooski's point is simply..... some people have come on to RAD to exploit the kinder fairer RADSTERS who sell /pass on their parts at a fair price just to profit and that is spoiling it for us all ...... they hang around buy the bargains with no intention at all to "build" anything and then stick it on ebay to make 1 a profit and 2 increase the price of parts generally.
if this carries on soon people wont bother selling on RAD and every part youve ever wanted /needed will only be available on EBAY then well all be HACKED off coz we will have to pay top dollar for everything . :-\
-
Having just read the Supergeese thread, and seen the insults aimed at TELLIS302000, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed by it.
I think I'm well out of the polishing and profiteering scene.
If I do come across any miraculous finds that I don't want to keep, then they will be offered to my buddies who've helped me and family - with due consideration to people who are fans of particular brands etc :daumenhoch:

My interpretation of the above simply means that you have to pay no ebay fees?....it doesnt mean your entitled get things any cheaper or be forced
to sell things any cheaper on here....
I can see the problem with whats happening for sure.....but its up to the seller to use their discretion and if they believe the buyer is in it to make a quick buck then its
up to the seller to decline the sale on those grounds. Thats if they want to of course? I sell my stuff on here for what I want to sell it for and if someone wants to pay me
that price then it goes......if it doesnt sell on here then ebay it is.
-
Well i gotta say guys, some of the last comments have restored a bit of faith in me thinking that not everybody on here has lost the plot!
Yesterday was just pathetic in my eyes and should have never been instigated in the first place, there was just no need.
I wont go on about it but its just nice to know that things are not all one sided in this place.
Antony
-
Firstly, TELLIS, "Yesterday was just pathetic in my eyes and should have never been instigated in the first place, there was just no need." YOU instigated it Tellis by assuming that someone meant you. END OF.
Secondly, I have been on Rad for about 5 months now. I came on here to gather hints tips and advice on obtaining BMX parts. On becoming a supporter, I started to realise that I could buy parts cheaper on here than on Ripoffbay, with members bidding on their own parts :knuppel2: I could quite easily have started to buy this stuff and sell on ebay to make a profit. BUT, I feel that, it's what is inside the person that makes the difference and those who are greedy or just plain arrogant to a hobby such as this, are the ones who are destroying it. The bubble will burst guys, just like the world finance crisis.
IMO, those who state that its the buyers perogative to do as he wishes with parts obtained are right. BUT DON'T TAKE THE P*SS out of others when re-selling. You will kill this hobby and just move on to something else, like a leech.
I have met a good few members on here that are not in this for money but for love of BMX. TOP DRAW.
As for pricing, if we as a seller keep pushing up the prices to obtain certain items, Tuf Neck, MX900/MX1000 etc etc, the only people who will be able to afford to carry on building are those in top earning positions. I see on here an MX1000 go for around £60 to then find a week later that an MX1000 will cost me £70. Who decides on the price? We do as a buyer. Stop buying them, the prices will fall or people will just be lumbered with it.
-
You cant police it and i dont think it's right to ban peeps for it! easy really if you dont like it remember the users name and dont sell to them.
I do alot of buying and selling on gaybay to fund my projects mainly because nothing sells for me on here!
I have also sold whole original bmx's on gaybay to members from here for a good price and they have spilt the bike and sold in parts for a profit on gaybay I HATE THAT but hey i got the money i wanted so i cant really have a problem.

you would all be hipicrates if you said youve never sold anything for money than you bought it for, and anyway isnt it a gamble selling on ebay, you could easily lose out....
i did it diliberately when i bought a kuwi ET, i bought it simply to makle someone happy (having a mint ET) and make a couple of quid... paid £400, spent £70 on powder, £20 on decals then spent all day using my paints to get the colour and fade right, i made very little money, certainly not enough for a days wage, and i just as easily could have been stuck with it...
