an inch makes a massive difference either side the bars are 24 wide as new.i ride bars at 28 but wanna try set at 26 as 28 is bit too wide for me
wanna get em rideablke at 26 see if they are okay if not then go for 27 etc etc

make a couple of sleeves then mate, and add a little at a time till they feel right...... then i think you only safe bet would be to put the sleeve in and weld them up. grips would cover up any welds.  :daumenhoch:

i've thought of one way of doing it where it will be completely removable but can't really explain it.would have to draw it and put it on here, but my daughters away at the moment(she'd know the photo bucket bit).give me a day or two.

what i was thinking of  has the inner end like a quill stem, with the bar extension part being the same diameter of the ext dia of the bars with an allen bolt (like the stem bolt) to tighten things up.(hope that makes sense)

Could you get some wedge type bar ends, and only pop 'em in halfway (and tighten em), then use some leccy tape to build up to the same thickness as the bars. Not advisable for any lengthy rides, but will give you the feel of the bars at different widths.

There is a product for MX bikes which does this - they are kinda bolt on extensions that you'd cover up with grips.  I think Renthal make some (probably won't be cheap though).
