I am not sure what the answer is to this hence why I thought I would throw it out there for a general opinion :coolsmiley:
The cat is already out the bag so I am not breaking any news or spoling anyone's chances of bagging a bargain :'(
.....but, if your BMX of choice was say Diamond Back and you spotted a Harry Leary Turbo poorly listed on Ebay and you already owned one......would you bring it to the public's attention or keep quiet?...........or go for it yourself and own 2 :D
My experience of ebay is that if the seller had no idea of what he had listed.....he soon will have after being bombarded within the first couple of hours with Buy It Now offers or of course there are good holy folk out there who will tell sellers who ain't got a clue what they are selling
As can be seen from the bidding already...people are onto it......now this could have course be as a result of the cat being let out the bag....or of course people could have found it anyway by doing a simple search themselves;

So....would you shout from the roof tops or keep stum ^"^

personally i'd keep mum on it and let someone bag a bargain if they're lucky enough.
you can normally be sure that most stuff has people on here watching it, but i could see how people get miffed if someone tells the world about it.
-
there's a load of peeps out there searching "bmx" "old bmx" "old school" "raleigh bmx" etc etc every day.
also they use these sites that search for loads of variations on what you type in to look for spalling errurs.
generally if it's on ebay, more than one person in the know will be on to it.
Think the best bargains are the "collection only" ones, which a lot of people won't bid on, I think Eamonn on here picks up lots o f good deals like that cos he'll collect pretty much anywhere!
Ocassionally I guess someone might hit on something listed cheaply and buy it now if they happen upon it as soon as it's listed.
My personal view is though is it's pretty damn annoying if you think you might've stumbled upon a nice little badly listed bike, you are lining up a sneaky bid then next thing it's all over rad on a thread "hey look at this" .
-
agree Joe, you can pick up some bargains on the pick up only stuff :daumenhoch:
-
:wtf: Thanks alot Stella from me and the others that where watching this auction ::) >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( WHY WHY WHY :-\ IT WASNT CLEVER OF YOU WAS IT....

It was already public knowledge - listed on Burnerworld yesterday - read the content of my first post before blowing a fuse :daumenhoch:
.....or do you have caps lock on by mistake ;D
-
why would those guys be interested in a harry when its not a burner, thats why dave went public about it as its just tat to them guys.

I agree, the collection only are always good to grab a bargain.....or of course the BIN if you spot it quick enough.
I was lucky to spot this BIN TAP last month in Plymouth for £300 ;)

I was using a Harry Leary as an example ???
-
I was watching out of interest, I have different keyword searches set up that send me emails every morning listing what was newley listed since last time
-
The fact that it had bids up to £370.00 within 12 hours of listing leads me to believe you were not the only person watching this OldSchoolRule :D
-
MATT PLEASE DELEAT THIS THREAD >:( >:( >:( >:(
calm down, it;s just a commercial.
I guarantee you any Burner fanatics are ALL over this auction already.

9 bids within the last 12 hours (when most folk are asleep) would lead me to suspect that this is the case :daumenhoch:
...and the fact that I Bummerworld member listed it up on the Bummerworld forum yesterday.......those boys will be setting up camp down Cornwall way as we speak :D
-
They are all wasting their time as Biagio will out bid them all ::) ,get the chrome on the harry frame set sorted then relist it on a Buy-It-Now for £10,000 easy money :D

If thats the case.......why are you having a hissy fit ??? :2funny:
-
Tell the world I reckon - if you think that a mis-worded item is gonna stop collectors you're deluding yourself. Having collected video games since the start of eBay, the only bargains you get are the one's that are mis-worded with a BIN.
Also, if it is someone's grail it's other peoples as well, and sharing is just generally nice ;)
-
i bid £800 on it, just so it can be run over at MK
-
:LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:
-
The only Burner that was somewhere close to being any good ? ???
-
To the Burner Slaggers... yawn yawn...
RADBMX BOTY 2005 - Raleigh Pro Burner :daumenhoch:
RADBMX BOTY 2010 - Raleigh Team Aero Pro Burner :daumenhoch:
And several BOTM winners as well over the past few years... :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
You know you love em'.....
@Stella Artois... Its Burnerworld, not Bummerworld... if it were Bummerworld then you'd still be welcome ;)
-
Beard didn't you run over a bmx in your massive truck at Milton Keynes?
:daumenhoch:
Burner's rule!
-
you know we love em really Dave :daumenhoch:
-
he was taking £380 last night but had a change of heart
-
Beard didn't you run over a bmx in your massive truck at Milton Keynes?
:daumenhoch:
Burner's rule!
::)
Yes I heard that as well......in a rage of jealousy as it was a better Burner than his
....said the wind blew it over apparently ....... and it was in his blind spot as he ran over it back and forth twice for good measure ;D
The poor bike did not stand a chance against his postman pat mobile on steroids :'(
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/tt244/StellaArtoiz/All%20New/truck.jpg)
Burner Rage >:D ................. coming to a town near you soon
-
Beard didn't you run over a bmx in your massive truck at Milton Keynes?
:daumenhoch:
Burner's rule!
No I ran over an ELF Double Cross...(Hunterdubbers) I claimed it was an accident, but it was repayment for all the radbmx' Burner' abuse... :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2:
You set of mutha-crackers!!!! :D :D :D :D :D
And Artoiz... your knowledge of this event is about as good as your old skool BMX knowledge... jog on... :daumenhoch:
... and it was my previous pick-up that I was driving :daumenhoch: but as I say... you know very little... :crazy2:
-
Was this the pick up that was guilty of the hit and run or was it the new one then :-\
.....not that it really matters I suppose, the damage was done no matter which one did it :2funny:
-
Tell me about the damage oh great informed one....
As you appear to be so knowledable about an incident you were neither present at or involved in... ::)
-
Lets keep it topic related, I am not interested in getting involved in a public spat with you David - please keep this kind of behaviour within the confines of Burnerworld :daumenhoch:
....looks like there are bid retractions
From £370 now down to £310;

Oi... pecker neck....
You sit there slaggin' off Burnerworld (a site I have put alot of time and effort into!!) and then think your being smart ass by posting up picks of my vehicle and spouting nonesense about an incident you clearly have half the facts from!!!
What a numpty... :P
-
it was going to be sold for £380 until that bid bumped it to £370
Were you on it then eamonn?
I messaged the guy when I first spotted it and had no response :(
-
12 votes to 1 at the moment voting for the keeping it to themselves approach
-
wheres the leary the other keeps unabout then ;D
-
I wonder what this will go for then? I've only ever stumbled on good finds from the US to be honest when the dollar was weak or "pick-up only" auctions as some people are jus plain lazy and shoot themselves in the foot :idiot2:

Personally I think its a pity that it went public on Burnerworld yesterday and perhaps it should have been policed better??
....but like anything internet related....once the info is out there....its too late :(
-
wish I never mentioned Dangerous Dave's Monster Truck Vs Bmx thing now.
Hey Dave, Burner Bash...will there be other stuff like in previous years...I'm mainly intersted in those wild west dudes with loud guns and hot broads!
Glen....yes that pretty much is the holy grail or Burners.
(the Mongoose might be desirable too, but I have no idea, I think they are sh1t.)
-
Glen.
Its a pro burner......the most sought after and feared Burner known to mankind
-
i fookin love burners all we could afford round our way in donny
-
not only is a Burner all my folks could afford for me, they'd have had to save pretty hard for it.
And it was the ONLY bmx I wanted right then, MkI Red/Yellow Burner. No sh1tty skyways nor nuthin, just the Burner! I loved that bike.
-
Never had a Burner.
Puch Invader for me :smitten:
-
I think once and forall, Dave Beard and Jase Stella should meet up in a car park somewhere on a motorway and have it out, you too bicker all the fooking time, I think a good punch up will resolve things finally :knuppel2:

And to be clear, thats a NON AERO Pro Burner! A mk1 (Non Aero) Pro Burner!!
I think you can count the remaining ones on a pair of hands
(I think someone has actually counted up the known remaining ones!)

yes, rarer than a rare thing from raresville.
probaly not "the most sought after" though, I guess most people want the bike they had as a kid and few people had these.
-
For those wondering whats being sold here.. MK1 Pro Burner.

think mine was a touch under £100. in the early 80s that was a heap of money for my mum and dad. That's a lot of money to my mum NOW!
-
Look at these bad boy's courtesy of that well known bike retailer Halfords - £109.95 for an entry level race machine and £83.95 for a not so serious kids one
I dunno what £109.95 back then equates to these day....but it was a lot of wonga

I'll probably take Mrs 71 home first.
But Leicester ain't far for me anyways. :)
-
No sorry, my typo, 38 I think is the known amount of these according to the burner forum.
I would have thought the price would have risen a bit by now :-\
Can anyone identify what the other bike is?
-
It's a Mongoose Cali Jase looking at the rear drop-outs and forks, but the wheels don't look like ProClass. Bad picture really, but let's face it, no-one cares about the 'Goose :2funny:
-
Cheers spen :daumenhoch:
I love a Cali me....one day I shall own one...one day 8)
Sod it - I'm bored - just stuck a monkey on it....and I am in the lead at £370.00 :smitten:

i emailed him yesterday as i was just curious to how he had acquired them.he told me
i got hold of this lot some time ago when i collected a mountain bike from somebody. They offered them to me to get it out of their way.but not fully knowing its value and intended stripping everything and restoring it to relive my youth!
some jammy people,eh?? ;D ;D
