he said 'we'll get some nice blue and whites for you tho'!!! hmm cheers but wont work on a resto!
or ive got a place that has all the colours but wont do 2 tone! nightmare
any advice / help?
oh and the coaters i phone are saying that 9010 is off white and 'if i knew that'
but its defo the correct colour for a team yeah?
prices are around 45 -55 up here per bike
-
hi,
i know this is no help for you in relation to the team burner colours, but yeah, Ral 9010 is like a very light creamy white.
(Ral 9003 is more like a brilliant white...)
-
Have you tried ESP Coatings in Possil?
-
40-50 pounds is about right for a powder coat service.
-
Hey man,
yeah ESP coatings are the ones im using the guys can do 2 tone and were really helpfull on the phone
only prob is he doesnt have the correct colour in stock
but im presumin he could get this in for me??
-
i pay 25 quid plus vat for powdercoating a frame and fork
only single colours though
-
Ruler,
What's the finish like and will they prep a f+f, ie media blast off what is already on?
I assume for a candy apple finish it would be a few more ££££
-
I pay £30 for blasting, prepping and coating from Watford Coaters although their last job was so shoddy I had bits of blast media still stuck on the frame and coated over!!!
I was so dissapointed I sold the frame. I didn't see it before I got it home ::)
I don't think Candy apple is available in powder coat as its a 2k paint (2K means 2 components are mixed together) correct me if I'm wrong.

the finish is awesome. very shiny and very hard.
but they only do a certain colour range - white, jcb yellow, light blue, dark blue, red, orange, black and silvery grey.
and they put my parts in with a run of other contract stuff
as far as blasting the existing stuff off, dont worry too much about that. just make sure its all flat.
i nitromors painted frames to get everything off. whereas chrome plated stuff just needs cleaning/degreasing.
the powder coat will stick to anything and it aint gonna come off. its thick too
-
candy is available in powder coat. nearly everything is these days, gold, mettallics...
-
where i go if you want a colour other than the contracts they are doing, then its a 70 quid setup fee + plus extra for the powder
so its cheap for base colours, but no good for others.
the yellow they do is nice. and i had a chrome plated frame done in white and it looks superb
i am currently prepping a frame to have done in blue so i will see how that one comes out.
-
What do you exactly mean by 'preping'
what do you have to do to a chrome frame before sending it off to get painted ?
-
if you want to powder coat a chrome frame, just make sure its clean
the powder goes fine on chrome plate. dont fook about getting it stripped
-
This is what i've been quoted to do a chrome F&F
£35 inclusive of VAT to grit blast and then paint in white
-
thats a good price
but if the chrome is ok then leave it on.
it does not need to come off
powdercoat goes over anything. paint, chrome, rust - just make sure it is as flat as you can get it, and is degreased.
-
i found my place
esp were charging 85 for frame forks bars chain guard brakes and seatclmps
and they didnt have the correct colour codes in stock
so i rescued it and took it to a place in hillington
65 quid for the same job plus they had the right colours
result
-
nice one mate
looking forward to seeing this done!
