Title: Query for the UK racers - Pro start gate license tests?

I've been out of the UK for a long time now and am just doing a bit of research and hoping some of you UK racers might be able to help.

I know you need a license to race but have you ever heard of needing to take a test to be able to use a Pro Start Gate, either in the UK or any other country? If not, what is required for you to get onto a track and just train with the gate? As far as I remember you could just turn up to a track, and ride.
