Title: Beyond the coke and foil I reckon SOME PROGRESS ON THE FRAME AND FORKS
Post by: trasher on August 28, 2010, 06:07 PM
Right I'm posting this thread from my phone
So forgive me if it turns out shite

Won this on eBay last night and the seller is delivering it next week
Reckon it's the worst iv ever bought

I'll keep you posted how it turns out , I plan to use most the stuff that's on it
Kind of a budget build for me

Not sure how these pics will turn out
P.s it's a total survivor as it came from the shop

Bit of work in that Glen  , sure it will be worth the effort in the end .

Would make a nice ongoing resto thread this mate  ;)

If it turns out half as good as your other builds it will be a looker  8)

 :2funny: :2funny:

its well dead

plan is strip it and get dan to weave his magic

reckon im going for yellow and black like the magazine test on it ,but keeping the black zeds instead of skyways

the seat will be going in the skip ....  reckon its got mx1000's on ,but they could be some  chang wang things

and the bars ,,,might strip and powder them aswell ,,,never a big fan of them ,,,but heyho ,,,trying to keep it as og with parts as was bought back in the day

and i said to myself the jmc was the last build this year

but when i sold a pair of bars for same price i paid for this ,,,,,,,,i couldn't resist  :LolLolLolLol:

Loads of potential there Glen, hell i've saved worse than that. You'll also feel you've really achieved something when you see the transformation.

Good score, i saw it on ebay but i've already got a build on the go so i didn't bother with it.

ok so i decided to give it a little clean ,,by getting rid of some of the rust

only fair ,before sending to dan

the bars are the worse

before
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v716/glenbett/IMG_1663.jpg)
after
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v716/glenbett/IMG_1671.jpg)

took the chain ring off and its a tuff neck ,,it was on the wrong way round ,,,bit of a clean
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v716/glenbett/IMG_1679.jpg)

rust removal from the crank ,,, needs a rechrome
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v716/glenbett/IMG_1681.jpg)

the frames come up alright ,but still needs a refinish

Fantastic rescue the gay pensioner.

Should be sweet for another 25 years now.

Looking forward to seeing the finished build. Are you going to match the bi-weekly review bike? I started out that way then drifted a bit.... I have a set of kenda whitewalls if you want em. Not desperate to part with em but happy to contribute to what looks like a great build in progress. PM me if you want them.
