not sure yet ive to go get it tonight at 6 ish ill let you know.

mmmmm, lush. if you get sick of them just send this one to me :daumenhoch:
-
Aye if you're that sick of em tell the rest of us where these annoying objects are coming from and we'll take care of the problem for you :LolLolLolLol:
-
Nice find :)
Would be nice to see the serial number as mentioned.
Forks look like 1" tubing rather than the 7/8" team forks - could be 81-83 forks or 83+ cali forks, difficult to tell unless front on. Dropouts are 81 and earlier.
If the forks are original to the bike it could be an 81 right on the changeover from the tange pinched to the later forks.
Cool.
If you are going to be splitting it give me a shout on the stem ;)
-
serial number is E115202 :daumenhoch:
-
Thats the spit of my first bike :smitten:
I would love to have found that :-\
-
serial number is may 1981 the lads just checked and its team mongoose originaly blue, so candy blue it will be again :daumenhoch:

Has it got 3 holes in the brake bridge or a flattened stay ? ???
Forks still look 1" to me :-\
-
I've been on the goose site serial makes it may 1981,the lad I got it from just txt he's found original purchace receipt from 1981 the only non original parts are bars and chainwheel
Aa
-
Yep serial makes it an 81 all good there :daumenhoch:
Just wondering how you were identifying it as a team :-\ The serial is the later style and therefore won't have the "T" stamp but the dropouts are the older style so if it is a team it should have a flattened rear stay or three holes in the bridge or in a couple of cases around this point in 81 they have both ;)
If the forks are original to the frame then it's prob's not a team as the team forks are thinner.
Also if the bike came as a complete, the team model had dura ace cranks as stock.
The standard geese did come in blue though :daumenhoch:

LOL it has been known!!
What should the spec be? I've had a quick look through my mags but couldn't see any reference to the Team model and from your earlier pic it looks way out as too much astabula and Motomags.

That pic was to show that the standard goose came in blue....... It's not a team ;)

bloody batteries went flat ive taken delivery of 3 bikes since last night and decided to take pics of this one last.
id like to do the frame candy blue (the original colour before it was chromed) and leave forks chrome as it looks like they have always been that finnish
-
it would only be a team or super with the T in the serial in that year, fook knows why it has the later style serial, it's not one of those british ammaco made thingy's id it??. Them forks look right to me. why the fook is the gap on the bottom of the box section behind the bb sealed off with some grey shit? is the seatstay on the drive side flat on the inside at the end?
nice find though. you been skip picking in the flood clearing? ;)

the box section behind the bb is sealed metal all round just looks grey in photo, no flat plate on drive side. its may 1981 according to the goose site seems it was the change over months where there used both types of rear dropout.
ill get more pics later
-
might be a puch in disguise :P
-
it would only be a team or super with the T in the serial in that year
That's not true I'm afraid.
In April 1981 the mongoose serial number style changed, dropping the T prefix for team models and also the C prefix for chatsworth meaning the serial starts with just the month and no longer had a Team/Super identifying character. So from april 81 onwards its D1xxxxx then may its E1xxxxx etc. etc.
Team and supergoose models from this point no longer have the T so there are many Teams / Supers made in 81 that do not have a T stamp.
The way to identify these team/super frames is the good old flat stay or 3 hole brake bridge method as the 3 hole bridge was introduced around the time of changeover and the flat stay was phased out. There are some examples, like I mentioned before, which have both the flat stay AND the 3 hole bridge. There is also a mish mash of dropouts to be found on frames with serials around the may/june 81 serial.
Case in example would be Kev's (KDW712) 81 supergoose, serial is E1xxxxx - newer style dropouts, new serial number (no T stamp) but with the flat stay.
:)
-
see what you started now scott with ya bloody ole goose ;D.
im just waiting for jimmy to start next :D.

81 is a messy year for goose id's
lots of "use that parts bin up first" frame sets >:D
cracking find though
nice to know they are still out there
love to see that orig receipt too
that kinda of thing is very cool to have with the bike
-
looking thru the bottom triangle the brake bridge is flat on it
-
that's fooked up. worse than hutch for serials and id's. didn't know they still used them dropouts in 81. but if it's got no flat stay and no T i wouldn't buy it as a full cro-mo :-\
anyhow, nice find scottie. Now don't paint it hollywood pink ffs
-
see you dont get these probs with a puch 8).
cause nobody fookin cares what it is :'(.
;D
-
candy blue frame on this bad boy chrome forks but id like tuff 1's for it :(
-
i've got a supergoose1. i wanted tuff 1's for it. never seen a pair on here since :'( would look mint i reckon scott. You still interested in the pro racer? seeing as i was doing it a mates rates ;)
-
but if it's got no flat stay............ i wouldn't but it as a full cro-mo
Yup, the flat stay (or lack of) is the key on this frame as it looks like the brake bridge only has one hole ;)
Any pics of the back of the bike / chain stays yet ?
:)
-
don't reckon he's bothered, after all, he likes TRM's :-\

My Supergoose is a May 81 too. No "T" and flattened seat stay. Has the 3 holes in the brake bridge too.
Nice score either way.
Oh and anyone looking for Tuff 1"s try aussie ebay. We always have them. :daumenhoch:

The ammaco made frames such as the "mongoose wire wheel" were a bit different to this one - different welds, slightly different dropouts etc. Oh and different forks too. ;)
Not sure on the silver star but it deffo had different forks :)

ive used as many standard parts as poss, dans done an amaizing job removeing the chrome them adding the candy blue. the mongoose crank is away getting chromed and ive a set of dia-compe 1020's on way with some pre bent levers. the only part im having trouble finding is the wierd freewheel for the rear steel hubbed tuff
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/v665/winnit93/steeltuffs008.jpg)
tuffs will have to be dyed next while i try a source a freewheel from the states

sprocket was way to small in the centre hole emailed colourtuffs about it but no reply, ginny rinnis has some that may fit.
-
lovely scott, when it's done i'd love some outdoor pics for the SBD gallery :daumenhoch:
-
Scott, let me have a look tomorrow,i think i may have a sprocket and cir clip for one of those hubs.If i do forget, give us a dig in the ribs and remind me.
Dave.
-
Oooh sex. Loving that blue tuff / knobby combo. Got that 80 - 81 look going on. How many notches are on the inner ring of the freewheel cog? It's a long shot but may have something. Looks about 8 from here. I'll go digging but don't get your hopes up.
* I had a coaster hub from that era, found the cog, had 3 notches, won't fit , sorry!
-
Looking good man. Be good to see that blue in the sunshine :daumenhoch:
-
ill was hoping to get some outdoor pics sometime this week if i can get home before dark.
mark and dave you boys get searching, these bikes dont run well with no chains :LolLolLolLol:

Liking that - looks mint ;)
Very nice SBD finish - love the colour :coolsmiley:

Looks good m8, nice one and welcome to the Goose Club :daumenhoch:
-
I'm liking that Scott ... it's oozing all the old school flavours and brings back loads of memories of my very 1st BMX. Nice one :4_17_5:
-
it's not far off that blue scott. looks mint mate. measure the hub and i'll see if i have a sprocket for you. With some rat traps and alloy bars it would pass as a team goose in that colour.
looking better than i thought it would anyhow. :daumenhoch:
-
Scott, found the sprocket and cir clip,16t,mounts into every other notch(4 notches, not 8) came directly from an old steel hubbed coaster. internal dia of the notches about 37mm.any good?
