As we all know by now, Mike is one of those fine breed of people who actually does give a s#it. So when he offered my son, Finn, a team ride for next year, he also offered to design and manufacture a frame for him.( he's only 8, so he's too small for one of the standard models) For this we are both very grateful and would like to say a big 'thank you' to Mike for his efforts.
It's not often you get a steel frame in the younger classes, so I thought I'd be true to the material and give it a polish and a clear coat of matt powder. I know it's been done before, but it's not popular on race frames. I've also stripped the logos off the carbon bars and forks and re-laquered them to give the bike a nice clean look. The hubs are the new 2010 Profile Microlines, custom coloured and with nice Ti/ ally upgrades (drilled aluminium washers/button head Ti bolts gave Diggler the horn whilst he was lacing the rims apparently!(cheers Si)), theres lots of other trick bits too, but I won't go on. Heres the pictures.......

Fwwwwwwwoaarrrrrrrrrr
:4_17_5: truly the nicest jnr I have ever seen....and those Ti bolts.................. >:D
-
If I ever buy a race frame and forks again it'll be a dialled. My last one was the nicest race bike I've ever ridden.
-
Yeah Baby :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks for the nice words guys. I'm dead chuffed to have Finn (and Jamie) on the team for next season and I really enjoyed designing the frame for him. Jamie has really done the frame justice with the finish and build. I won't say anymore about this project for now as Fast Lane are working on an article about it (and the design process behind it).

when are we going to see your new paint job darren?
-
just this minute seen it & couldn't stop looking & thinking, then looking & thinking, then....& i'm still looking. i've been fortunate enough to have explained, in great detail by some of the top cycle engineers in the business, why various materials are used in certain applications, how they perform & why, watched tubings being formed, butted tubes being drawn, heat treated etc & witnessed the various techniques used to join all this together. back in july of last year a certain someone said "kev, if you race again you gotta go dialled" so i found the site, had a good root & even sent an email, remember Mike! liked what i saw but it was just another new name amoung all the rest that i had to choose from without having any input. 5 months later i've had the pleasure & benefit of meeting the man himself & riding both 20" & 24" & all i can say is when i eventually find work there can only be one place where my money is going. seeing just 1 thing (amoung others) on the above masterpiece has simply confirmed my firm belief that research & development from someone who is PERSONALLY involved & listens to rider input is a solid foundation for a dialled (pardon the pun) bicycle. converting & transfering that data into a product is an art in itself & the dialled stable got SSSKILLS!
WHAT A BEAUTY! the bike not you Mike :daumenhoch:
-
You like it then Kai? :LolLolLolLol:
-
never two words when a thousand will do... :2funny:

-
Ill second that Simon , best news Ive had all day too . :4_17_5:

Finn could win on any bike, but I'm glad he's doing it on one of mine.
I hope he got a big fat trophy for his hard work.
-
Stunning results. Well done Finn. And well done to Mike for getting Finn onboard the team for 2010. Here's hoping he can do the same again tomorrow. Humps
-
Same again for Finn today. Straight wins - motos, qtrs, semi and final.
What a star :4_17_5: :Great_Britain:
-
Yeah :4_17_5:
-
Finn says thanks for the comments. I'm very proud of him. He'd only ridden the bike once on a waterlogged track for a couple of laps because of the weather, so he'd been practicing on Rampworx skatepark on it to get used to it! (with 1 1/8" tyres!). He still managed to show a clean pair of heels to 57 of Europes best though...on steel!,who'd of thunk it?. Only joking Mike, the bike got a lot of admiring looks over the weekend, and in Finns words- it's mint.
I'll try and get some pics up if I get a minute.
-
Hey Jamie, didn't I tell you at Cheddar it would all work out ;) :daumenhoch:
