Grays Skatepark
« on: November 19, 2008, 03:12 PM »
Grays Skatepark circa 1983 , now replaced by the ubiquitous bloc of flats.

Matt H (Torker 280 w. black Skyway Tuffs and CW handlebars wearing a nice Fila tracksuit top and Oakley Factory Pilot gloves)  and Nick H (Diamond Back Silver Streak, CW handlebars and Diadora trainers (!) getting HUGE air on the tabletop...

Funny though we all did a big protest that got published in the local paper when they threatened to close it down (which of course they did), it might just have been a big lump of concrete but it was OUR lump of concrete !

There were some other "humps" out of shot , I think these pictures do the place a bit of a dis-service, however i thought i'd post them for their sheer radness.

Did they get the plans upside-down? Maybe that hump was meant to be a small bowl...

yeah its a bit of an inverted skatepark innit?

the hump should be going towards the centre of the earth, not towards the sky.

those bloody council contractors must have had the plans upside down... :LolLolLolLol:

I don't care what the skatepark looks like, if you lot were riding it and getting RAD then that's what it was all about. Takes me right back to see all those CW's and Whitewalls. I bet you spent hours down there ridin'. We were lucky in Nottm because (by pure fluke I'm sure) the load of humps our council built for us were actually quite good and are still there today. Compared to The Pipeline and Del Mar or even Southsea and Livi' our parks were crap but we loved every minute of riding them anyway!

based on what I've read on this forum I believe the Nottz Humps and Bumps are recently deceased as well...
