Maximum BMX Products USA

Maximum is a company that started in California in about 1980-81 (please correct me if I'm wrong) by a guy called Larry Hess. He started making frames for his son in the Garage but this soon turned into a small company. When the garage couldn't supply demand so a manufacturing deal was struck up with GT (my frame is a GT manufactured frame from May 83). I saw the team in mags up to 1986 but I don't know when the company closed the doors. The outstanding feature of the frame is the high BB which gives excellent ground clearance for long cranks (185mm) but the XL suffix is a bit of a con as the top tube length is only 18 3/4"
