Just used a polishing kit off ebay on my drill, plenty of emory cloth to flat down the dropouts and heaps of autosol. Takes a lot of time but the effort is worth it as the chroming process shows the tiniest of flaws and covers nothing. Just keep it in your mind that when you're polishing you want the metal to be as close to chrome looking as possible... any scratches etc will show up after plating so just take your time and the hard work will pay off
